Saying Goodbye

IMG_8333

After much thought and consideration, and after 6 long years of blogging and over 1,300 posts, I believe it’s time for me to say goodbye….give this old blog of mine a long deserved rest.

I’ve come to realize that my blog readership and comments are way down, which makes me less interested in spending so much time composing and uploading posts and photos. As it is, I'm posting only one or two times a week as it is. But most importantly, I’m just plain busy living my life, taking care of my family, home and animals, and staying too busy to post blog posts and keep up with reading other blogs.

I’ve also discovered that Facebook is quicker and easier at keeping in touch with friends and family, and the feedback is much greater and more immediate with opportunities for extended conversation and chatting. So, that’s where I’ll be if you need to find me. lol!

Thanks to those of you who have followed along faithfully for all or most of my 6 years of blogging. I appreciate your comments and friendship more than you’ll ever know. Maybe someday we’ll be able to meet in person. And if you plan a visit to New Mexico, please contact me and let’s get together.

So, for now, it’s farewell….goodbye.

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "other friends have flown before
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said, "Nevermore."
- E.A. Poe

Goodbye, Lisa. May you be well and happy in your future endeavors.

I don't FB Lisa, so I will miss your posts. I haven't been posting on my blog for 6 months or so to spend more time with my husband in the evenings, so I do understand the time that a blog takes. I'm jealous of the time that some of my family and friends prefer to spend on line instead of talking in person.

Good luck! I'll be wondering about you and Apache, and the husband, and the kids and the chickens, and the llamas, etc. :-)

Oh...nooooooo!
But, I do understand. I'll miss reading about your rides and your trips with family, the twins and letter boxing.

You will be missed greatly. As a faithful lurker, I have always enjoyed your posts. I do realize how much time and effort it takes to blog and the quality of my own site shows that I am not up to the challenge.
Thank you for posting all of these years.

I have enjoyed your beautiful photos and incredible trail rides, the fun adventures you have with your lovely family and adorable critters, and your letterboxing adventures (you inspired me to stay up very late one night carving my personal stamp and I'm looking forward to letterboxing more this summer). Best wishes to you and yours.

See you on Facebook then. Or maybe the next time I drive through New Mexico. I love your town.

I will certainly miss you! You don't have to stop altogether, just post every once in awhile. I did try the blog a day last month! IT IS A LOT OF WORK! So....I have not blogged in about a week. I feel guilty, because I set a standard, and now fell from it. But that is ok. I will get everyone caught up...I am spending some much needed bonding time with my new Donkey who hopefully will be Star's new buddy, so that I can then ride Libby! LOL Take care. I have not caught up with you on FB yet.

I have been enjoying your blog since I discovered it just over a year ago. Seeing your children grow up, animals and just your life in wonderful New Mexico. Your blog is usually the first place I go when I log on every morning. Gonna miss it! Good luck and I shall be seeing you on FB.

Awww and I so recently found your blog. :( I'm planning to do CTR with Chrome in the future so I've really been enjoying your posts. I do understand how time consuming it can be though. Please don't delete the blog though in case you decide to come back. I'm staying a follower. :)

Also if you don't mind can you add Chrome on your FB so I can still see your photos? His page is under Beebee's Chrome Chevalier. Thanks!!

Ah, I will miss you and your kids and your chickens and Apache and your Ranchman and your amazingly beautiful photos, and learning about New Mexico, and, and...well, I'll miss you. :)

I'll hold out hope for a random post now and again...maybe if you have an exciting event you just are bursting to share with the world.

Happy trails!!

I'll miss you Lisa and all your critters who are so unique. Have a great time with your family and animals and enjoy your rides.

Shucks.

I've enjoyed it. I'm sure you'll channel your creativity into something, and I hope it's at least in part into writing and photography in some form or other. You have a lot of talent in both.

I just noticed the Twitter feed message about your husband. I wish he and you both well.

Lisa said...

I will definitely miss reading your blog. I have enjoyed the trail adventures for sure and admire the strength it takes to go up and down those hills. Wishing peace and happiness to you and your family.

Awww, I'm so unhappy :( I will miss your posts! But I totally understand, and am thinking of taking mine down too after the wedding. It's just run it's course and there is life to live. I'll keep you and John and the kids in my prayers and hope he's back home soon. I'll see you on FB my friend :)

Very sad to see you go. I've just recently discovered your blog, and have been living vicariously through your adventures. You have helped inspire me to go on more trail rides with my horse, and try new things with him.

Happy Trails.

I know exactly what you mean, Lisa. I am thinking the same thing. except I won't be doing facebook much either. I have discovered I get so much living done without the computer.

Your blog was one of the first ones I visited when I started blogging and I always enjoyed my visits.
Good luck with life.

Take care,

Say it ain't so! I hope your husband is home and healthy quickly. I have always appreciated your very thorough and informative blog, but I totally understand how much time that involves. Take a break. Your beautiful blog can stay here representing you and your adventurous life for a long while...until you are ready to return. If I come to NM, ever, I will definitely look you up. I will find you on FB. Thank you for offering yourself so generously here.

I'm so sad! I've enjoyed reading another homeschool, horse riding mom's blog. Hopefully I can find you on fb, I would enjoy staying in touch, especially if we fulfill our dream of moving south and we could some day get together for a trail ride.

I have thought the same thing now that my life is getting much busier, but I just enjoy it too much and notice I post ess but I really enjoy it so much. I will miss you but try to keep up on facebook.

Lisa I will miss you and your family...when I hear anything about New Mexico I always think of yall...have fun living your life...
I'm on face book too if you are interested in staying in touch let me know...

I have to say I feel a bit guilty, I've been reading all your posts but I rarely comment on any blogs lately. I'm just so busy I make time to read but if I commented on every blog I'd never fit them all in.
Its funny, I've noticed a decline in comments on my blog as well, but for me its more of an online journal for myself to look back at (although I DO appreciate any comments!)

Keeping in touch on Facebook is great, however I will miss your photos and the stories that make up a blog post.

you've taught me so much about your state - honestly i knew nothing about it before reading LOR. now i have an appreciation for it. i hope you are still working with the state tourism industry promoting it, because your photos do that well. i'm so glad you are ending it with all those weeks of riding riding riding. if i ever make it there, and i must, if we are to geocache all 50 states, i will be in touch. if you're ever in germany (you fly free?) please contact me.

So sorry to hear you are leaving but I can understand why. I have been doing this for 9 years and it gets old sometimes. Mostly I do it to add my photos to an online album so they don't get lost so easy. I, too, find I am posting less and less. Face book is easyier to keep up with friends but I have found some great ones by blogging. Take care. I will miss your post, and have fun with your critters and family

lisa said...

I think you are great and I am the same way but not yet quite ready to let go being as I am now doing it mostly for the hubby when he is away he can see what we are up to. You take care and try to find me on facebook and I will try to find you!

Ah, I know well this discouragement you speak of. Blogging is like having a second job. I don't think people always realize how much work it is and I know I'm way down on having time to visit and comment everywhere. I'm trying to find a balance in so many ways in my life. I will miss your trail competition and riding photos and the chickens and for sure I'll miss you. I may have to take you up on the Facebook invitation.

I know you need time with the family, but I just gave facebook the boot and deleted my profile there so I'll miss all you posts and photos.

It makes me very sad to think of you quitting your blog. I have been using it for very selfish reasons. I was born in Albuquerque and moved to Colorado over 30 years ago. My mother lived in Tijeras and my brother lives in Edgewood, so I have been using your blog when I get homesick.

I will miss your photos and insights.

That is really too bad...you have one of the best horsey blogs out here in blogosphere. I have loved seeing the pictures and hearing the stories of your rides and adventures. I use Facebook, too, but have actually found it a little annoying. It doesn't support this type of experience-telling very well. However, happy trails, Lisa, you will be missed!!

Mary said...

Well Phooey! Once again, I have been saving up to read your stories, of which I still will, I need to catch up, but I saw this one first. I understand though. I started writing about Fred on Facebook, but found not too many people were interested, I have no idea why, (he he) so I started the blog. I will friend you on Facebook though, so we can at least keep in touch. I use my maiden name, I will identify myself as Freddy's "mom".

I am truley sorry too hear this...I will miss hearing about the twinlings growing up to be men and truely miss reading about Jen's accomplishments in her journey to womanhood. I also know how much work it is fo so little acknowledgement. I am at the point that I do it for me! whan I have the time and energy...I post.
I hope you will think about all of us that have grown to love hearing about your rides, chickens, kidlets and life in general and will post an up date once in a while. :))))))Love you!!!!!!!

We will sure miss you Lisa, but I know what you mean, my readership has dropped off severly as well. Don't know why.

I have to say I was really missing your blogs about Apache and the chickens, always LOVED the chickens. :)

Lisa I am so sad to hear this, especially now that I have time to come back to blogging!! But I totally understand!!! I was having a really hard time blogging, but mainly due to exhaustion and no motivation from a crazy work schedule. Now with retirement I am hoping to get my blog back up and running like it was when I started!!
I will miss your fantastic blog posts and most beautiful pictures!! Please keep in touch!! (Oh and I tried friending you on facebook, but I just don't think you know my whole real name, since I don't give it out to anyone!! Probably my fault you thought some weirdo was trying to be friends with you!)
Take care

I will miss reading your blog. I stop by pretty regularly but rarely comment. I will miss your adventures with your critters and your kidlets! I'm hoping you will post once in awhile just to let us all know how you are doing, as I don't do FB. Good luck to you and your family!

Lisa, I just sit down to try, and I totally understand where you are coming from, write something on my blog. It's been a long time since I have written and/or commented on anyone else's blog.
Well, said. I have thought the same thing, Facebook is quicker to post a quick comment and I to tend to do that.
I have really enjoyed reading your posts and admiring your gorgeous photos.
Ride on cowgirl, see you on down the trail!!

What!!?? I am so sad that I will no longer get to see your cool photos and feel like I am traveling through time and space and riding along with you. I understand completely, I really do, but please remember that you have a fan over here on the east coast. Rock on, ardent photographer, horse lover and fun mum. I will miss you.

You've always created a beautiful place for us to visit and I know it's a lot of work. I keep mine low on activity, for that very reason, busy moms can only do so much.

I'm thrilled you're back on Apache. you've been riding with such confidence, I wasn't sure if you felt she was the right horse (which believe me, I understand).

Lots of folks moving to Facebook, but I guess I'm staying on the blog. Just need the space to write, I guess. I'll friend you, but I'm not on much. Know that I'll be thinking of you and will get in touch the next time we go to New Mexico.

Oh for pete's sake, I've been so busy working, I haven't been on the net as much, and I missed this post until today, when I thought 'I haven't read anything from Lisa lately' and came over to see what was up. Well, I'll be sorry not to hear about your adventures, but I'm glad you're so busy and having fun. That's way better than spending time on the computer. Best wishes and happy trails!
