But I don't consider blogging a money-making venture, so I didn't want to spend any money doing it. Except that after more than a week without being able to load actual photos into each post, because I had exceeded the Picassa Photo Album limit, which happens to be 1 GB (approx 4,000 photos) it seems we've had enough.
I still find it hard to believe that in 2 years I actually uploaded 4,000 photos to my blog. I can hardly imagine, even though I love taking photos, that I even took that many. Wheweee!
RanchMan John, who is an avid reader of Laughing Orca Ranch, said he cannot stand the 'annoying slide-shows' and wants the photos back. So he decided that it was imperative that he pay the $20.00 to Google for more photo space, 10GB to be exact.
So, Laughing Orca Ranch is back to normal again! haha (Thanks honey!)
And so to start off the photo jamboree, I have some photos of our barn cat, Jones, who just can't seem to make up his mind which water in two buckets tastes better.
Mmmmmmm. This one is pretty fresh and fairly clean.

With a taste of green hay. Slightly astringent.

I think I shall give the other bucket of water a try.

Hmmmmm. Very similar but with the background flavor of llama lips.

I don't think I like the taste of llama. Let's go back to the first bucket, shall we.

Aaaahhh, that's better. But can cats get drunk from drinking too much barn water? Or maybe I just have to pee......where's a litter box when you need one?

LOL, love the kitty pics!
How funny is that? I'm just wondering how you ended up in the right place at the right time--camera ready.
My dogs have two water bowls, filled with the exact same water, but one bowl always gets emptied first. I would love to know what is going on in their minds.
Hysterical. I'm not going to miss those slide-shows either. Thanks, RanchMan John.
Way to go, RanchMan John! I must admit, I'm a lazy blog reader and I much prefer photos that appear right in the posts :P
Jones going back and forth between those buckets is like one of those people who can't stop going back up to the buffet line because they're afraid they'll miss something.
I'm glad the pictures are back. I liked the slideshows, but everything is better in text. And I love that kitty! I want to grab him and cuddle him, he's so cute!
I didn't mind the slide show, but this is much better. Jones is too cute!
Thanks John, I was getting tired of the slide shows too. This is much better.
That Jones is a lucky kitty. I bet he didn't have two buckets of water where he came from.
My goats hate it when the dog drinks from their water. And when the llamas drink they dribble back into the bucket. Yuk.
Can I say(without getting in trouble)that I agree with Ranch Man John? I love seeing the photos on the actual blog post.
Yay! So glad this worked out for you with the photos. That's incredible that you've posted 4,000 wonderful pics. I was going to ask you whether you had noticed a drop in readership at all when you stopped posting photos on the main page - lurkers love quick access to photos, I've found...
Thanks for going through these growing pains for us...because of your experience, I know I'll most likely plunk down my $20 when I reach my limit.
Jones is adorable...and ha, ha, ha, llama-lip-tasting water. Yum!!! :-)
I must admit, I vote with the rest of your loyal readers... it's much nicer having the pictures right in with the blog text.
The kitty pics sure are cute.
Hi Robbyn, Thanks!
Hi CeeCee, I usually always have my camera with me anyway, but this was the day that my friends came and brought their kids and I was already taking photos of the animals and kids, so it really was perfect timing. I think animals can have favorites just like people.
hahah, 7MSN. And I sort of liked those slideshows! Ranchman just reminded me that I seem to be in the minority on this issue. That's ok, though, the photos are easier to upload to Blogger instead of making the slideshows and then transferring them to Blogger.
Hi Meg, I'm glad you're happy that the photos are back. And your visual of Jones going back and forth to a buffet cracked me up!
Jen,
Thanks! And Jones would LOVE to be snuggled and held. He's a serious people cat and loves everyone.
Thanks SugarCreekStuff!
Hey goatgirl,
John is loving the feedback from this post. Talk about getting a big head! haha
I know what you mean about the llama drool and dog slobber in the water buckets.
Funny that the goats and sheep are neater and only slurp their water. Worse still are horses. My Baby Doll seems to be washing and rinsing her mouth out before she actually takes a drink. Ewww!
FrugalMom, Sure you can say it without any trouble. But just keep in mind that you are giving John the time of his life reminding me that 'he told me so'! hahah
Farmgirl, your welcome. Glad my experience will help in the future. And in the end it ends up being less than $2.00 a month. Pretty cheap for the freedom of posting photos, eh?
But, oddly enough I never noticed a difference in my blog readership/comments before, during or after the 'slide-show' experiment.
I hope that just means that some folks just enjoy my blog and are willing to go with the flow.
But I do believe that everyone prefers the photos included directly with the text, though.
And now they've got it! hehe
Hi Rural Writer,
Awwww! My loyal Reader! Thanks a bunch. That just made me very happy.
Glad you got the photos back. They just pop out and fit so well with your text and stories. Is it $20 a year to upgrade your photo storage?
Love the picks of Jones drinking....he looks very clever. How great you were able to be there to capture that moment!
what a cutie cat! we have similar photos of our cats drinking from the horse's water. It seems we are all very much the same animals lovers here!!!
Okay, I'm sure Ranchman John's head is bloated to fantastic proportions at this point. But I'll go ahead and say it anyway, I prefer the pictures :)
Hi Pony Girl,
Thanks so much. I'm glad you like it...or rather, Ranchman John is! hehe
Yes, it's $20.00 a year, or rather for 10G. You get 1G free and that's supposed to allow you to post up to 4,000 photos.
So, I think that 10G will be enough for me...maybe! haha
Oh,and Jones is such a funny, clever and unique cat. I'm happy that you noticed :)
Hi Gudl,
Thank you! I love the idea of all of us together sharing that love for our animals. What a beautiful world!
SugarCreekFarm,
Oh wow. His head just exploded!
bwahahaha!
Thank you, from Ranchman John ;o)
I like having the photos back, too, since my old but loved Mac laptop freaked out over the slideshows!
Ali in Maine
Since I'm in "speed-reading-catch-up-mode," I never clicked on the slide show links. Glad to see the photos are back IN the posts, and now I know what I'll have to do when that time comes. I'm at less than 50% max (I save small files of all my photos for posting on my blog), but I have wondered what would happen when I maxed out.
Off to ride my horse on a beautiful spring day here!
