It finally feels like winter around here. We took advantage of the snow fall to finish putting up our inside Christmas decorations. There is just something so perfect about decorating for the holidays while snow falls outside, and you're inside sipping hot cocoa in front of a cozy fireplace, listening to beautiful Christmas Carols. I did venture out to take a few photos, though. The front of our house.
This is the peach tree by our front door. I just love the way it looks dressed in snow.

I finally got our electric luminarias up. With the strong gusts of wind we get during the winter I had to attach each of them to the stucco, with a glob of clear silicone, to keep them from blowing away. I only bought a few sets as they tend to be pricey. Eventually I want to add to them so they cover our entire roofline.

The birds have been grateful for the seed I've left out for them. I enjoy seeing their tiny footprints in the snow.

I love the warm glow from the luminarias dusted with snow.
Baby Doll is getting a little bored sequestered inside her pen in the barn.

Her new purple waterproof turn-out-sheet arrived, and I placed it on her for the first time yesterday. At first she snorted at it and tried to avoid me putting it on her. But she quickly decided I wasn't going to let it eat her, and now seems glad to wear it, to keep the snow from melting through her fur.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here.....

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?
Are all your holiday decorations up?

It looks so beautiful there!! With those big puffy snowflakes falling!! I love the lights on your house!! Very cool!! And I love the style of your house!! That is sooo neat!!
Baby Doll looks beautiful with snow lightly dusting her back. But I bet she was glad to get the blanket on!!
W is for WOW!
You're house is so Wonderful! I'm impressed by how nice it looks from the outside, especially with the snow. We have our tree up but that is all we are doing this year. We are keeping it low key this year.
WOW, your house is beautiful! My first thought was that it was a palace :). I love the birdy-footprints, too, but our barn cats try to hunt them :-/...
LOVE the first picture of Baby Doll! She's so gorgeous with the snow falling on her. I'm glad she's ok with her new blanket. :)
We had snow last week, and it was below 16 degrees on Friday. Then om Monday (yesterday) everything melted because it was 50 degrees! It was crazy! And now it's back down to 23 degrees, and we are expecting 2 inches of snow tonight. I only like snow if it gives us a snow day. Which it rarely does. :( lol
W is for Wilting flowers in the winter snow...wow...that was so poetically weird. ;)
OH your house looks like a castle with those luminaries! Love your snow pics and you're so right about there being "something" to snow falling during holidays. I really miss our white Christmas.
Dolly Babe looks very cozy in her new blanky. I like how the bird's footprints look like little Xmas trees.
8 days and counting! How did that happen?
Since you asked I had to go check the thermometer...ok...after gasping...it's Monday, 6 p.m. and a big 0 degrees! I thought it was getting pretty cool when I was getting everyone settled in for the night at 4:30...we have 4-6 inches of snow.
Your house is gorgeous! Stucco...beautiful! Love the luminaries...have never done them myself but am very interested now.
We finally got the tree thawed from the water bucket it was in...it's in the living room awaiting decorating...tomorrow!
W is for Water...for without none of us would be here
Everything looks beautiful and festive and the snow really makes it feel like Christmas. We're expecting snow or sleet tonight. All the decorations are up that I'm going to do this year. I wasn't allowed to climb on any ladders this year (knee rehab) but i managed a lot of decorations anyway with a little ingenuity...
Hi Lisa, you snow pictures look like a Wonderland. I would love to look outside and see such beauty but I don't think that will happen here in Australia. Our Christmas is going to be quiet warm with lots of cold iced drinks and lazing around on the couch or verandah. Baby Dolls will learn to love her purple coat and your house looks beautiful with the glow of the luminarias..magical :)
Hah! I get to be first. I LOVE your luminarias!! I think those are so pretty! Your house is magnificent!!!
Love the new blankie too. Isn't it fun getting new ones?
I wish we'd get snow, all we've got is rain and clouds.
Leave it to Baby Doll to adjust to a new blanket quickly. I got to drive to the north end of Lake Tahoe on ice this morning. I was going at a decent clip in my F150 on snowtires until I came upon a string of cars stuck behind an 18 wheeler going 10 MPH. That was my longest drive to work ever. One slow moving vehicle can turn a 45 minute commute into nearly 2 hours. W is for Waiting and Waiting and Waiting...
Great photos! It looks very festive indeed. I love the style of your home - we never see homes like that here in Iowa. Uniquely southwestern! How fun to see such a different look! No decorations up here yet - must wait for Thursday (I finish exams that day).
Wow! Your house is super cool! It snowed 5 inches today and they sent us home from work early. I have my cards done, my shopping 98% done and am getting more excited every minute;)
Lisa, your house looks Wonderful with the Luminarias all lit up! I saw it tonight when we drove in.
I much prefer the snow than the mud! Yuck!! Everything is drippy and soppy now, freezing in the morning and melting in the afternoons.
I put up decorations today, did a little shopping, now I'm starting to feel like Christmas is coming!
Your home is so beautiful :)
Ya know I didn't know that you guys in New Mexico get snow. I remember being very surprised when I first read your blog and learned that.
"W" = WINDIGO
Wow, you have a beautiful home and it looks lovely with the luminaries and the snow falling.
I don't have much in the way of Christmas decorations to put up, and I only have about 1/2 of those out on display at the moment. Haven't been feeling that jolly of late, and with just me here in the house, I don't feel the need to go whole hog on it. I may do a bit more in the days to come.
Beautiful pictures! Baby Doll looks so pretty in the snow. Loved your pictures.
I Wish I could sit a trot! I Wonder how long it's going to take?
I LOVE your luminaries!!! Here in WI it has been around 6 degrees with windchills at about -10. WE had snow then over the weekend it melted. Monday brought the frigid temps back and yesterday we had about 6 inches of snow. It has been a very cold December so far and all I did for outside decorations was to put my snowman out on my park bench. Your house looks beautiful.

Wonderful surprise. See, I'm so dorky I never knew it snowed where you are. I always thought it was in the 80's+ year round. lol I guess maybe that was just wishful thinking as my husband talks about moving to the southwest all the time. I never thought it would feel like Christmas without snow, and low and behold, you get that too! I love your luminaries. Your house is awesome too.
Bloody awesome house you have there paint mare sister! Love the pics! Ours melted into ice and then returned again last night! Great photos!
Wonderful Winter Wonderland photos! I love the chicken tracks in the snow....=) Our chickens are not happy that there is snow on the ground...it makes their little feet cold...burrrr!! It was 3 degrees here this morning!
happy wednesday lisa
your photos are lovely...look at all that snow falling...and your home is beautiful!
have a most wonderful day.
I love stucco/adobe looking homes, and those luminaries look really authentic. Gorgeous, Lisa!!!
I am glad that you are able to stay home and enjoy your WINTER WONDERLAND!!! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for me. My hubby is still on his midnight to noon shift, and I have still not been able to get any shopping done yet.
I wouldn't stress about it so much, if it looked like it would end soon, but it is looking like he won't even be here on Christmas morning. Oh well...what can you do??
There is one good thing right now though!! I have to finish one last paper, I have finals tomorrow, and then I am done for two weeks!!!! Yay!!!
Talk at you again sooon!! :)
Wow! What a Wonderful Wintery Wonderland it is! I love the luminiarias on your beautiful home.
We're experienceing the same storm here in Northern Arizona with about the same amount of snow and the same temperatures.
Baby Doll looks nice and warm in her new coat:)
How beautiful! Oh, mail me some snow, please :) love the new red blanket! You guys have a wonderful holiday..I miss having the time to stop here more :)
What a beautiful S. Western home you have! And so traditional (in a no-tradition electric sort of way)with the luminarias! Gorgeous! We have been having record cold weather (in teens) and snow for this time of year. I have a couple of wreaths on the door and that's it! I am SOOOO bad!!
We put our decorations up the weekend after Thanksgiving for two reasons - (1) we love the Christmas season and all the trappings, and (2) we always travel back to Tennessee and Kentucky to visit with family for Christmas so we want to enjoy our decorations as long as we can.
Great pictures.
Dan
Love your lights...uh, luminaries. That is a totally cool idea.
Are you a purple lover too? I sure am.
W is for Wednesday, waste, and want. Remember the saying, Waste not, what not.
PS As always, great pictures!
Yep my decorations are up and the weather is icy. Just a little snow that has quickly frozen into slick ice. Cold for us....12 degrees this morning. Brrr! Your home looks beautiful and warm.
Your house is down right gorgeous! I am still in awe at what a great job you do on your posts. I can only imagine how long they take you to do. Just know that I, for one, (and I know there are many others) love reading what you have to write.
Love all your photos! The house is gorgeous!
We are in another week of rain and very warm temps. The low last night was 50 degrees. Not very Christmasy, and we're all getting tired of the mucky earth.
From inside, though it does look wintry out, and the tree is twinkling and the stockings are hung, all 13 of them!
Wonderful decorations.
Lisa, Baby Doll is beautiful! My in-laws have Tennesse Walkers with similar black-and-white pinto marketings. It is such a striking color combination!
This is Panama's second winter wearing a blanket, but last winter he was in a stall with a run every night. Apparently, though, in a pasture (even a small one) it's a different ball game, and he is making up all kinds of blanket fears that he never had before. Horses can be such funny creatures sometimes!
I can't wait to see more pictures of Baby Doll!
