Sky Watch Friday~Western Sunset

After Val of Fantastyk Voyager rode and worked my painted pony, she went home and then called me to look outside and enjoy the gorgeous sunset. Such a beautiful way to end a great day.

I enjoy participating in Sky Watch Friday because it reminds me to stop and appreciate nature and the beauty all around me.
These photos are directly out of my Canon Powershot SX110 digital camera. This beautiful sky required no editing. I took these photos from my bathroom window looking up towards our paddocks and barn.
The colors were so vivid.
Towards the end of the sky show, the colors grew deeper and richer.

I have a HUGE thank you to send out to my beautiful friend White Lilly. She said she wanted to send me a little something from Australia a while ago and I thought it would be so wonderful to receive a card from so far away from someone so sweet. But I was very surprised when a package arrived from the land of Oz instead. Inside was this adorable pink cap and this exciting Australian Horseman magazine. I've already read it cover-to-cover and have enjoyed seeing the differences and similarities in horse riding, rodeo, horses, tack, etc. And I just love the cap, too. It's the softest cotton and fits me perfectly. I'm wearing it right now actually! Thank you so much, my dear friend for your generosity and kindness. I'm so blessed to have you in my life.

I also want to say a huge thank you to all of you that left me such supportive and understanding comments about the loss of my little chicken. You helped me feel so much better. I cried while reading all of your replies and even though I still feel sad, I believe, like many of you said, that her cruel death was not in vain. I just want you all to know how much it means to me that you'd care enough about me and my animals to take the time to be so kind. Thank you! Smooches to all of you!

And finally, this situation puts everything into perspective. Life is so very fragile, my friends.

Last week, her handsome, smiling son was killed after he returned from doing his Air Force duty over in the Middle East. This amazing Mother created the most beautiful tribute to her son. I sat and gazed at the wonderful photos of her son and grinned at all the silly stories, and the joy he brought to everyone's lives he touched. Tears poured from my eyes realizing the sacrifices he and his family have made in serving and protecting our country. This young man bought his first car last year and was just married in November. His life was just beginning. Instead it was snuffed out in an instant.
