Sky Watch Friday~O’Keefe Clouds

A warm, sunny day today beckoned me to sit outside on my balcony and enjoy my enchanting New Mexico skies.

The contrast of these clouds against the brilliant blue sky reminded me of artist Georgia O'Keeffe, who called New Mexico her beloved home until her death in 1986.

O'Keeffe's Art captures the essence of natural beauty throughout the northern New Mexico desert, mesas, its vast skies, and richly colored landscapes and unusual architectural forms.

It’s no wonder Northern New Mexico has been called “O’Keeffe Country”.

Here’s my own little effort at creating some O’Keeffe style Photography Art.

(To take this photo I used my Canon PowerShot's 10x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. Afterwards all I did was bump up the contrast in my Windows Photo Editing software. Voila!) (Note: All of the other photos were straight out of my camera. Edit-Free)

For beautiful skies, check out Sky Watch Friday!

Wish I could just go up there and sit on one of those clouds!

Zoom zoom!

Those clouds seem to be rare here in NC. Maybe I'll just sit here, stare at my screen, and see what kinds of shapes I can find in them...I think I see Kurt Vonnegut...and a flying pig...hmmm...

Georgia O'Keefe was has always been one of my "heros" since I was a child. Her art is amazing, the flowers are my favorite. I often think of her when I take photos -- I like to sometimes reflect her in my photos of flowers. :)

Great pics by the way!

PS: I am always liking your music selection -- we have very similar tastes so I went down to take a gander at your play list and see lots of Creed songs! I adore Creed! :D I saw them in concert once and loved every minute!

Like giant cotton balls in the sky. Great pics. :)

They had a wonderful exhibit of her work in a museum in San Antonio and the one she did of clouds remains my favorite. I love cloud photos and you did such a wonderful job.

Clouds in New Mexico are the tall ships of the sky, I miss them so.

Very pretty. I do like the last one best, though with the indigo blue sky contrasted against the whipped cream clouds.

There's something so calming about a deep blue sky and big, puffy white clouds.
That last pic is great!

You're getting so good at editing, my friend. It looks like your new camera has really worked out for you. Aren't you glad you don't have that other camera that drove you mad?

Last shot was great.

O'Keefe is one of my favorites - "wild women who rode away" always makes me smile and is hanging in my sunroom where I see it many times during the day.
Beautiful photos and I adore New Mexico, it's past time for another visit.

Gorgeous, as always! We just don't get that color of blue in the sky in this part of the US.

Wow! I really like clouds, but I especially loved the last photo - incredible. And I know it was great even before you "bumped up the contrast".

Amazing!!! A little editing never hurt anyone anyway! :) I've never heard this Enya song "River." I just noticed you have several of my favorite Creed songs in here, too. Aw, I wish they were still together. :(

Nice clouds! You wrote on my blog about the clouds here in Ohio and what our elevation is; sorry I don't know! There is an old church up on the ridge where I sometimes ride with an elevation marker in the stone steps. Next time I am up there I will check and let you know.
