Mare Watch Monday

As of today, my friend Val’s Arabian mare, Annie~aka~Fantastyk Gal is just a month away from bringing her foal into this world…….and I am SO excited! I’d love to share the suspense and excitement as Annie’s foaling date nears, so each Monday I’ll post some photos and possibly video of how Mama Annie is coming along. I hope you all enjoy this little journey, too.

These next three photos were taken on April 7th, over a month ago…and she was already pretty big, as you can see.

I’m still a beautiful girl, big belly and all”

If you look closely at Annie’s belly in this video from April 4th, you will see lots of movement from her baby, followed by Annie’s muscle twitches. I bet all that movement inside feels strange to a sensitive horse, like Annie. I know it felt strange to me when I carried my twins and both of them shifted at once. But I, at least knew I was pregnant and knew what was going on. hah!

And today (May 17th) I took these photos of Annie. Can you believe she still has a month to go before foaling?

She seemed to enjoy my belly rubs and back scratches I gave her today, too. All very pregnant Mamas deserve a little pampering. Poor Annie looks a little tired.IMG_4950

Thanks for visiting today!

Come back and visit next Monday for Mare Watch!

Oh, I am SO excited to see Annie's foal! It is going to be a cutie! She does look ready to burst, poor mare. Good thing it won't be TOO hot, I hear pregnant ladies hate being near the end in the heat. I love Annie's freckles :)

Thanks sooo much for the video. I love watching the movements of little foals...I can't wait to see the baby.

I'm glad that you aren't afraid of Annie and she gets to enjoy all those rubs you give her. She seems like a pretty gentle mare.

awwww, thanks for the photos!

I noticed that her teats are getting bigger, maybe she'll foal sooner than we expected...
Poor thing, she just wants to stand around nowadays.

Oooh, watching that video made me feel a baby moving around in me, even though the last time that happened was 16 years ago. That's a sensation you never forget.

I'll be following along.

I love that song THE CLIMB although as I get older, it's about getting to the other side and sitting down. :-)

Thanks for bringing us along to witness this incredible event! The video is wild. I've never had children so I can only imagine how bizarre it must feel to have something growing inside...makes me think of the movie Alien.

Annie: That's right, girl! We're all beautiful, big bellies and all.

That Gypsy Vanna is one gorgeous horse! Wow!!
