Sunday Stills ~ Purple

(Turn on your volume!)

I just love it when problems are solved so easily and situations reveal themselves, without much effort from me.

Case in point, this week’s Sunday Stills Challenge, which happens to be the color ‘Purple’. When first presented with this challenge I was stumped, because quite honestly, there are just not that many things around this ranch that are purple. I did find the obligatory purple flower, but that subject just didn’t excite me.

But then I received a phone call that my hubby, who is in training to be a truck driver, was going to be driving through our area. And after not seeing each other for two long months, we’d finally be able to connect again.

Imagine my surprise and satisfaction when he told me that the truck he was driving with his instructor is purple!

Our kids were excited to climb up in that big purple truck and check it out.

They also thought it was cool that their Daddy slept in a bunk-bed, on the top bunk.

IMG_1428

How he climbs up there, I still don’t know.

I climbed up in the cab. Except I kept thinking that some climbing gear would have made it a little easier. Wow! That cab is in the nose bleed section!

IMG_1423

I couldn’t have even climbed up there 7 months ago after my knee surgery. I would have needed a pulley system. haha!

John was only able to come home for a few hours. Just enough time to read the mail, fix something that was broken and hug all of us several times. Then he was on his way again. We miss him already.

And although we did have a few purple subjects around Laughing Orca Ranch…………

IMG_1475

I think my hubby’s brief visit provided the perfect purple subject, don’t you agree?

I burst out laughing at the very first chord of the music--perfect!

How frustrating to only have your Ranchman home for a few hours!! But at least you can remember what he looks like now, lol. And, of course he had to fix something in his precious few hours; too perfect.

By the way, the flower pictures would've been just fine, since they're typically GORGEOUS. Great lighting on that first one; love the background on the last one.

(Persimmons, when truly ripe, are a kind of bruised purple. Just thought I'd drop that in there.)

I know how that is with the missing husbands--mine is working in Chicago, and I have not seen him since Labor Day and I won't for another couple of weeks. That part sucks. There is a lot of stuff he needs to be fixing!

Great shots--my powershot has never taken such clean shots. Which is why I miss my SLR so much while it is being fixed!

Great shots now you can appreciate my job a bit better. I'm glad you got to visit, the first few months of a new driver are the hardest. The kids seemed happy to climb on the big truck, maybe someday I can visit and take them for a ride in mine, its a whole different world when you are 5 feet up in the air..:-)))

I do agree. Those are wonderfull pictures and that truck is a beauty. Looks like great fun too. A bit like a camper. Being a truckdriver you seem to be on an endless holiday.
Love the flowerpics too. Great colours.

That is great! I am soo glad you got to see the hubby! I thought it was hard, you have it even worse not seeing him for that long! Is it just until the training is over or will it always be like that? Hang in there and take care! Lisa

Great pictures Lisa! How exciting that your hubby got to come home, if only for a few hours! Wow what a BIG purple truck, how funny is that, you needed more purple and it drove into your driveway!!! LOL My husband used to work on the road, for 5 years. Mostly he was home every weekend but still made for a different life then.
Hope the long stretches will be over soon and he will be home more.
hugs....

The one I like best is of you and your big smile sitting in the purple truck with John! I'm so glad you got to see each other! (And I'm glad I could see this post. It seems hit or miss and I still can't figure out why.)

Is that fate or what? Your hubby showed up in a purple truck. That thing is a monster. I'm so glad you and your kids got to see him again, even though it was only for a few hours. At least now you can picture his living quarters. You went all out by posting "Purple Rain."

I really do agree and I wish I could also get up the cab and see it for myself. And you really have a quite of purple collection here. Have a happy Sunday.

I thought it was hard to find a purple truck.

What about your chickens? in borneo, some of the roosters have very beautiful plumes.

Wasn't that considerate of him to pick a purple truck?

Is he enjoying becoming a truck driver?

I know absolutely nothing about the lives of all those people out there driving all those big trucks back and forth across the country, so I really appreciate the glimpse inside the truck and a peek at the life of a big rig driver. Thank you for sharing. Lovely photos.
