Check out Macro Monday to see what others have photographed close-up, or if you’d like to participate, too.
And pond scum, too. (What our ‘Shrek’ pond looked like before I cleaned and winterized it last week. The fish looked much happier afterwards, too.)
I apologize for being MIA at many of my favorite blogs lately. The weather has been warm, sunny and beautiful over the past week and we are taking full advantage of it by spending time hiking, letterboxing, winterizing and spending time outside with our critters, before winter’s bitter winds and snow arrive and send us shivering inside.
I hope y’all are doing great and I’ve not missed anything monumental. I’ll be back to visit very soon. :)

Excellent shots as usual! Crisp colors.
Pretty neat pics...and I don't blame you for wanting to be out!
Back when I was raising sheep and doing a lot of spinning and natural dyeing, I did some lichen dyeing. The kind that I gathered made a wonderful rich brown, but what I remember best was the wonderful smell that the wool took on from the lichen--delicious and woodsy!
Wonderful photos, thank you for sharing them, Lisa.
Great macros of the lichens. Shrek's pond is an awesome place for textures...I wouldn't want to go swimming there though. :)
I like the Lichens too..you have different kinds there! That pond scum is a lovely green color..very Shrekish! :)
hahaha oh lisa!
i once called a girl i knew "pond scum" in a fight.. but your photo is awesome & so not what i thought pond scum would look like ;)
The pond scum one looks like a witch's brew!
Have fun out there while you can, Lisa!
Wow, that's definitely shrekish water! I am amazed that sometimes a small colony of lichen is hundreds of years old! Give new respect for the stuff.
