Sunday Stills ~ Best Shots of 2009

This week’s Sunday Stills Challenge was the most challenging yet! Ed asked us to choose just TWO of our most favorite photos from last’s year’s Sunday Stills, and explain why they are our favorites. For me that meant going back through 39 week’s of Sunday Still’s posts, most with more than one photo, and narrowing them all down to just two favorite photos. This was difficult!

So these are the two I finally chose.

May 24th ~ Yellow

I love the wide open spaces and the way the road draws your eye into the photo and towards the mountains on the horizon.

Yellow

May 10th ~ Black & White with a Twist

I liked this photo when it was in color, but I loved it even more in black & white. If it weren’t for Ed and Sunday Stills, I might never have considered turning the photo into black and white. I also think the neutral color reveals more detail, too. What do you think?

blackwhite

Which of these two is your favorite?

I like them both, for different reasons. I am a sucker for landscapes and am partial to the beauty of your New Mexico world. The road in your image calls to me.

But I'm also fascinated with the details of nature and the texture of the scales on the butterfly wings is so much more obvious in B&W.

You've taken so many photos I've enjoyed, it would be hard for me to pick just two of yours!

Hope you and Baby Doll are having a wonderful time at your clinic!

That's a hard question. I like them both but for different reasons. I like the road picture because I love landscape pictures. The moth picture has wonderful tectures and contrast. You picked two good ones.

Cool choices Lisa!

I love them both! I do think that with the black & white the details pop more whereas in colour they may have taken a backseat to the colours.

I like the highway shot, too. Great colors and makes me dream about where I want to go next!

I like them both. I wonder what's at the end of the road when I see a picture like that. I just about used mine from that challenge too;) I love the texture in your black and white.

I figured you'd have a hard time picking 2 for this challenge; but, good choices. I think I like the moth best, because it's so unusual for a moth photo.

Really love the open road! Hope to capture a shot like this one day.

On your Landscape shot, I think of your truck-driving husband. The colors are nice, on flat ground and heading toward the hills.

Lisa...you are such an artist! Everyday your photos are exceptional.
I hope your horse is with you at the clinic. Have a great day!

Both are great, and such a contrast - the wide view and the close up detail.

A little off the subject…The picture at the top is your horse, Baby Daoll, right? Well I saw the same picture at this website

Like most everyone else, I like the open road picture because if captures why I love living in New Mexico -- all the openness. It really lifts my spirit to be able to see as far as we can out here.

Good choices.

The detail in the moth is incredible.

You could only pick TWO?! From a whole year? Torture. :)

Both photos are gorgeous. I particularly adore the bright colors in the first shot. Great framing!

It's hard to pick a favorite from everyone's pictures. They are all so good! I love the long stretch of road - the whole picture stayed in focus. The B&W gives the butterfly an almost angel appearance. Some pics are at

Horsey pics are on the other blog. I couldn't pick just 2, so there are lots! lol

Both are awesome shots but I think I like the detail in the second one better.

Love them both, but my favorite is easily the second one. The detail is stunning and I love the textural elements. Great choices.

Love the first shot. The colors are so vibrant, and contrast wonderful. I just want to walk down that road.

tough choices, I like the road that goes on and on, but I have to say the butterfly. The b&w and detail of the textures is what does it for me good job. Regular Guy

Those are both great choices! The colors in the first photo are wonderful as well as the wide open spaces.

The B&W reminds me of a pencil dot drawing...it's a really cool photo!

Hey Striving for Savvy,

I'm not able to find the website you're talking about with that link. Could you contact me via e-mail with a direct link to the site instead?

Thanks
