My poor hens have been dealing with way too much attention from our two young roosters that were hatched out by Mrs. Cotton, our Japanese Silkie, 6 months ago. She also hatched out one little black hen, too. I felt bad for my girls, seeing how those two young bucks would ravage a hen, what seemed like every 15-20 minutes. The poor girls couldn’t even sleep or eat without looking over their shoulder. And sometimes the two of them would tag-team on a hen too.
In comparison, Sid Vicious and Mr. Cotton are almost 2 years old now and have matured enough to not have the same strong urges they had when they were younger. If they get a little hen-love a couple times a day, they are more than content.
In addition, these two young roosters were adding to the noise levels exponentially through their beginning efforts at cock-a-doodle- doo’ing.
So, these two amorous young studs had to go. And I had to find them new homes.
I posted ads for free roosters on Freecycle and Craigs List and the next day a lady and her daughter came to pick up one rooster to watch over their flock because their previous rooster had died.
One gone, one to go.
But just 2 days later, a lady and her husband stopped by to pick up the last rooster. Their flock was without a rooster and they enjoy different breeds of chickens, so they were looking forward to having a flashy rooster to add to their flock.
So, now we are back to having just two roosters again and coop life is much calmer and things are back to normal…………….
and my girls can relax now.

They sure ended up being pretty colored! I bet they were getting noisy LOL
Aww, your boys were so pretty! It's a shame we can't have unlimited roosters! We had to do the same thing, my girls were gettin' too much lovin'. Just how it goes sometimes.
But these pictures can't be recent - where's all the snow?
I love that last photo! Poor girls. It's hard being gorgeous and irresistible. That's good that you were able to find homes for them and so quickly.
She looks so sweet taking her nap. And thankful too!
Sounds like a fun time in the old henhouse, glad to see the boys found homes and it lppks pretty much snow free there....for now.:-)
Beautiful chickens! Aren't having chickens around SO much fun? I can not imagine going out side with out hearing the chickens and watching them run across the yard.
Hooray for the girls! I'm glad you found the boys good homes where they can be useful instead of bothersome.
Nice photos of your chickens. They are very pretty birds.
Wow, those boys had really grown, beautiful!!! Ahh, things are quieter now and the poor girls can rest. Love the last picture!!!
hugs...

Good that the ladies can finally relax!I am not much of a bird lover ,but those are some gorgeous colors!
Hey Lisa, I know exactly what you mean. We have 4 roosters and 2 hens at the barn right now. Some will have to go.
I am so happy to see the hens still enjoying the nest box. All your chickens are so pretty. Rooster and Hens.
Have a great day.
Pam
dang, you had a chicken brothel :) Poor HENS! I can't wait to get chickens , but will save the roosters for when we live in the country.
I love Sid, he's my fav.
All's well that ends well.
I'm sure the young studs are happy with new conquests to make.

It is interesting learning how all the chickens behave together. Those girls must have been exhausted.
Your chicken coop always looks so clean! The man who rents the pole shed on our place is going to bring in laying hens. So I'll have plenty of chickens for Beamer to visit!
Very nice! We recently rehomed two of our Americauna hens. One was our roo's "favorite" and looked like a badly abused prostitute. The other was her friend. Both hens were a bit older and not laying as often too. Now our roo does not have a favorite and life is much, much more peaceful for the ladies.
Is your Phyllis Diller a Polish?
I love you guys 's chicken talk, makes me chuckle everytime. Hey how is our dashing Sid haven't seen him for awhile.
Very handsome roosters. I get the biggest kick out of chickens. If my town wasn't so anal, I'd have some. But, I guess I'll just enjoy yours.
Pretty boys. I like the lighter coloured one.
I've been attacked by roosters far too many times.
We have a Wheaten rooster with our 6 Wheaten hens. Then, we have a Cuckoo Marans roo to many Cuckoo girls and lots of other girls. I am very protective of my girls so unfortunately extra males have to move on. Great you found homes for your 2 roos.
My "KitchenSink" Soup is a tomato base, 'cause that's what we prefer, then whatever I can find laying around and in the freezer goes in. Good eye, yes this one had ockra in it (from the freezer).
And to think I thought bulls had all the fun! Educational as always.
Thanks for the smile.
Now the boys have their own harem. lol
We had to get rid of excess roosters as they also ran our hens ragged. Right now we have no rooster as the last one died.
Sometimes having to many males is not good ;)
Maybe your two young guys found the VIAGRA??? Sorry you had to find good homes for them!
OH yea to many roosters can be a bad thing. I had to get rid of a few of my extras this year also.
Glad you were able to rehome them. We have 1 rooster too many but I haven't been able to find any to take him yet.
I love that last photo, SO SWEET! :)
Dealing with the same thing myself- my two extra boys are heading off to their new home tomorrow. Kinda bittersweet, but I know the hens will feel MUCH better.
Freecycle is great! lol
Good bye boys!
They are pretty but I bet they make a lot of noise.
Boys can be overwhelming. Glad they found good homes.
