Peaches All Day Long

When I woke up yesterday morning, I walked outside and picked peaches from our peach tree.

For breakfast we sipped delicious, creamy peach smoothies.

For lunch, I sat on the porch, enjoying the cool breezes and a glass of lemonade (the perfect palate refresher) while peeling peaches for Peach Freezer Jam. I’ve got 68oz of fresh, delicious peach jam in my freezer now. Wintertime will be much more bearable when we are enjoying the sweet taste of summer with snow is on the ground. Mmmmm!

For dinner we enjoyed a new recipe, similar to Hawaiian Chicken, but instead of pineapple, I made a fresh peach sauce. My kidlets were skeptical, but they ended up devouring everything on their plates and then asking for seconds. Very yummy!

And for dessert, I baked a Peach Cobbler, which we gobbled up while watching a movie. (Have you all seen IronMan? Awesome movie! And now one of my favorites.)

I think I even dreamed of peaches last night, too.

My favorite cobbler is peach, warm with milk over it. Do you peel all the peaches or scald them and then put in cold water to make them easier to peel?

can you post the chicken recipe? Looks great and I am always looking for things to mix in fruit...

Ellie,

I usually just peel them. I find that scalding them takes too much time waiting for them to the water to get hot with an electric stove, and then waiting for them to down cool down enough to handle. And the hot water tends to make them mushy and slippery. Peeling, without scalding is just faster and easier for me.

That is just so fabulous!

I have peach envy! Your cobbler looks so delicious. I don't usually peel my peaches. I just use them with the peels still on. The peels add a tartness and a deeper color that I enjoy. Less work too.

I swear to you, I was thinking of you Saturday afternoon! I was peeling and freezing a peach overflow, and wondering how your harvest was this year. Glad you got enough to play with! The peaches out of SC have been amazing this year; even the freestones are tasty.

It all sounds and looks delicious! Our peach tree just doesn't do well and we are in the peach state!
Now pears, we have...lots of pears!
Maybe we need to be called the pear state? lol..
Have a great day.

Everything looks awesome.

I didn't think I would like Iron Man, but I loved it! I enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek humor.

Oh I love peaches. Trade you squash and garlic for some of those peaches. LOL. Great harvest you have.

My peach trees got hit by late frost, which killed two of them and by aphids, which made the other two non productive. Fortunately there are lots in the valley, I can just buy a box!

Looks like you had a really "peachy" day.

I put up peach jam this week and made a pie and still have peaches left over. We had to buy our, sure wish we had a tree. :)

That's a lot of peaches. I need you over here at my place after the in-laws visit. They always bring bags and bags of fruit from their orchard/garden, and there is no way we can eat it all, so we save a few and throw the rest in the compost pile after they leave. The fruit is actually usually rotted or moldy by the time they get it to us after a 400 mile drive in this heat anyway. If it were good, we'd probably take it to the Food Bank.

There is nothing like a fresh juicy peach in the summer. They look delicious.

I had peach daquaris the other night. I think I need a peach tree or three when we finally get settled and buy a place here. So far, Georgia peaches haven't been anything special. And let's not even discuss GA watermelons! It's sad when watermelon from Indiana tastes better.

I peel my peaches by dipping in hot water (not boiling) for only 30-45 seconds, then drop in a bowl of ice water to cool down which only takes a minute or so while the next few peaches are in the hot water. After a short cool down just line them up on your board while you peel them. Just place your thumbs on either side of the peach crease and pull the skin back, it will come right off. So easy and my peaches did not turn brown. A quick dip in the hot water won't brown them. :)

Ooooh, I remember your yummy peach pictures from last year as well. So jealous--we can't even have any in the house due to Max's allergy to them. Enjoy for me.

And peach chx sounds great!

Heaven! This is a great year for peaches in the Northeast and I totally understand your peach mania. I think I ate at least 10 today and I plan to do the same tomorrow.

Peaches, peaches everywhere, I love peaches....now when I go to the store tomorrow I will have to buy some peaches to eat!
Would love to have one of your peach drinks, with something good in it, maybe that would help stop the itching from the hornet stings! :-(
