Have you ever paid money to purposefully get lost?
We do. Every year. And we even think it’s fun.
Come with us and get yourself lost, too.
There won’t be all that much to see besides beautiful blue skies and rows of green.
And just as in life, you’ll come to forks in the road and have to choose which path to take.
This will happen quite often.
But if you’re traveling with us, you’ll have lots of help in deciding which path to take.
Sometimes the path will lead you in unexpected directions, but that’s ok. Adventures are fun, especially when we’re together to laugh about it.
Sometimes we’re given a map to help us find our way, and even a card to punch when we find some check-in stations. But sometimes the organizers run out of maps and cards and we have to improvise and find our own way.
This can make the journey a whole lot more challenging, but much more satisfying in the end (especially when you get yourself un-lost all on your own. Who needs a stinkin’ map anyway?!)
We hope you brought some water. One should never head out to purposefully get lost without adequate amounts of water. It’s usually hot and hard work getting lost.
It’s ok if you forgot to bring food. There is plenty to eat along the trail.
Sometimes you’ll see a sign for a big old, beautiful shade tree, and you can even see it just down the path. But your path to cool shade is blocked, so you have to just move on.
If your resourceful enough you can find a very tall sunflower bush that will do the job just as well as a large shade tree.
Sometimes trying to get un-lost is like finding a needle in a haystack. But don’t give up. Life is full of surprises.
And you might even get scared.
Or feel like giving up.
But that’s ok. We’ll be here for you, to help pick you up.
It may look like there is no end in sight.
And every direction you turn just seems to lead nowhere.
But just when nature calls, you find a sign.
And eventually you find your way out of the maze of life and you’ll probably have carried out with you a few kernels of wisdom, too.
(Go ahead. You knew that was coming, right? hehe!)
So, have you ever paid money to get lost?

Heck yeah, I pay money to get lost all the time: I'm an ENDURANCE RIDER!
(but I also love corn mazes! This year will the first time Willy and Lisa have experienced the fun.)
How fun! We'll have to do that one of these days :) If your boys get any taller, they won't be able to get lost, they'll be able to see right over the corn!
yes i have paid money to get lost, we did a corn maze with foreign exchange students it was great fun! looks like you all had a good time!
lol, you all are too much fun! I've always wanted to do a corn maze; maybe this will be the year...
Corn mazes are fun. How funny my friends and I just had a lengthy conversation today about how we went in a corn maze and I ran ahead and hid and scared the living daylights out of them.
Bunch of hams out in the cornfield!
We have corn mazes around here but I have never been to it. It's a really, really neat farm too but I just don't think about it.
Looks like you all had a grand time, love the pictures and the story. Good!
hugs....
Jane
Nope. I get lost for free.
Looks like fun.

Look at how much fun ya'll are having!!! Never been in a corn maze... I'm pretty claustrophobic so not sure if I could handle that or not.
Your Kidlets look like they thoroughly enjoyed that!
AH! how coincidental! I did, just last night! :) I went to the amazing maize maze near our town. The 'maize' is probably 8 feet tall....and there are 2 1/2 miles of paths through it to find your way out, as well as a cafe in the middle! The design of the maze changes every year. it's very cool. :)
Looks like you had fun, too :)
That looks like fun! We were at a sunflower maze earlier this year, but never went in becasue they werent flowering yet and we could still see over them.
I like the picture of your daughter peeking out of the corn! its cute!
A few years ago we went to a really big corn maize. It took a couple of hours to get through it. Luckily there were signs with arows directing us all along the way. Finally we got to the end. The arrow was pointing left. We breathed a sigh of relief. We were so tired. Then, like you'd see in a cartoon, my husband turned the sign around so it was pointing right! We ran the correct way down the path and roared with laughter when we heard the next family behind us exclaiming their happiness over getting to the end and then they scampered off the wrong way! I don't know how long it took them to get out of there! We were very naughty.
