Sunday Stills ~ B & W or Sepia

This week’s Sunday Stills Challenge is to share photos of subjects in Black and White or Sepia.

We live right off The Mother Road, or rather the famous Route 66, and I travel along this historic road just about every day. It's a common sight to see beautiful historic cars from days gone by. But it's even better when all of them are in one place. I went to a Father’s Day Car Show last Sunday with my family and figured what better subject to showcase Black and White and Sepia. I used a free program, called PhotoScape to edit my photos below.

1)Don’t you just want to run your hands over the curves?

2)Fins Rock!

8)Love the grill pattern, but is that a flying chicken hood ornament?

10)I really want to drive this truck and haul hay, don’t you?

11)Reverse B&W. This car was originally bright orange.

(Notice the little model car under the hood?)

Actually, my favorite is that very angry looking chick in your header photo, but, of all of your subject photos, I like the big truck the best. I'm glad that someone took the time to preserve that. Old working trucks are just more likely to end up in the scrap heap.

your second photo, when I was young, we had a few timber tycoons, their kids came to school in similar cars,we dubbed them as aeroplane cars with fins like that. The driver used to scold us if we dared to touch the fin.

Love those classic beauties!!! As for the antique filter, I always fantasized about using wet or dry plate methods... but if there comes a day when photoshop creates the same effect, what would be the point?

Gosh! They are all terrific, I do find the newspaper filtered one very interesting. I haven't posted mine yet, struggling with the concept. My model (Fred) isn't cooperating, I figured that since he's black and white, it would look semi cool, I got nothin'.
I laugh out loud every time I open your blog and see your header picture, that's hilarious.

Boy did those photos take me down memory lanr! My grandparents had a '58 Chevy Belair that I used to drive around their yard when I was little! (Don't worry, Pappy was in the passenger seat and there was nothing to hit - lol)

Beautiful pics, and the different filters added a special touch :)

That Bear Mountain truck is interesting. Suppose its a Surburban? Very good shots of all the cars. Looks like a fun day!

My favourite is the reverse black and white - the picture seems very surreal in a striking way. I'd love to see the whole series in color too. :)

All great pictures but I like the old truck the best! Ya, hauling hay!

You take such care in both composing your shots and post-processing them. I'm always in a rush. There were so many people at the barns and museums tour I took that I was constantly snapping pictures as fast as I could before someone walked into frame. Then when I got home I had so many chores to do that I just auto-processed everything. I keep wondering if I'm ever going to have the time to really concentrate on photography.

I would have loved to see these cars in person. There is such romance in old autos. I always have had an attraction to the BelAir...

Brings back memories! Grew up sharing the back seat of a 1949 Chevy with the family dog. Back in the day I used to recognize all the models and years.

Great photos.

What an awesome set of photos! You really caught the feeling of an era with them! I bet there were beautiful in their "real life" colors but they are beautiful in sepia and b/w. Their unique angles and shapes make them so intriguing to photograph. You did those classics and old Route 66 proud with these photos!
