Sunday Stills ~ Pests

This week’s Sunday Stills Challenge was to photograph pests or things that annoy us. I wasn’t especially inspired by this challenge and wasn’t in the mood to chase down flies and mosquitoes for a photo shoot, especially when some pests seem to like being photographed.

Our 9 week old hand raised chicks aren’t especially annoying, but they can be pests. Even though they are more entertaining than a game of Monopoly, and they make us laugh more than they try our patience, they are sometimes pests.

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve almost tripped over a little biddie while trying to clean their coop or refill feeders and waterers. And they are always pecking at my pants, shirt, and the freckles on my skin. (ouch!) These chickies are constantly under foot and hopping on top of my shoes.

The other day I made the mistake of sitting down on the chair inside the coop for a little rest and instantly I was swarmed by chicks all over my lap, shoulders and head. This particular chick was all in my face and I was a little worried she might either try to clean my teeth or pick out my eyeballs.

She also reminds me of my blogger friend, Nuzzling Muzzles' nosey neighbors, who are always in her business and staring at her. Hey Nuz Muz! Is there any resemblance?

I think chickens definitely qualify as pests! I'm usually charmed by all of my hens following me around everywhere, but sometimes a gal just wants some peace and quiet!

Yep, you're right. Pests don't necessarily have to be bad - just in the way.

I would find them uncomfortable and pests, but clearly the "Chicken whisperer" enjoys them . What a doll!

Ha ha! Yup. All you need is for her to be peeking out from behind a tree to be the woman, but actually that's perfect for the man. He's a straight-on, peck your eyeballs out starer. That's funny that they think your freckles are seeds.

Have you ever heard the term, "Strike lottery?" I would never let a chicken sit on my head.

My mum's chicken were "working hens" not pets. We never played with them for fear of striking lottery tickets.

LOL I can see why those chicks could be pests. They are very pretty though.
