Catlinite, our 6 yr old gelding guard llama is our resident baby sitter. He takes his guard llama duties seriously and is a terrific protector, but he also cares for his little goaties and tolerates a lot of silliness, too. He breaks up head-butting battles and herds his goats back to the barn if he spies danger. And he allows them to curl up beside him on cold windy days. I don’t think he would ever admit it, but it’s pretty easy to see that he actually likes having his goats around.

Awww, how sweet! Would he protect your chickens?
Looks like the goats like him too.
Cute pictures.

Nice babysitter, I like your new header picture!
Llamas are so funny.
Do you ever shear your Angora goat?
Yep. If you've followed my blog for a few years you'll remember seeing posts about the shearing of my llamas and goats, and previously my sheep, too.
I usually shear her myself, but sometimes I bring in a professional.
Luna's a good girl to shear, though. I shear her twice a year, but she grows her fleece in very fast, as you can see.

Do you spin all that fleece, Lisa?
What a great character!
Yes, I do Clair. I shear, clean, wash, card, spin and knit with my llama and goat fleece.

Looks like everyone is sunning themselves out there. Still got snow I see...
Aww, very cute.
Awww he's just a big goat at heart..:-)
awe who doesn't love a good goat grooming?
=)
Llama's are such gentle and tolerant animals. I sometime wish I had a llama or a goat, but then... I admire your care for them and all your critters - it's a lot of dedication and work (especially in the sniow and mud) :)
I love your photos and you're right, Catlinite is a wonderful baby sitter. The goats and the llama are so pretty. I love your header with your chickens walking in line! blessings,Kathleen
How sweet! I think it would be a great idea to have such a hard-working animal around to take care of the goats, and they are probably friends, too. It looks that way.
Awww...what a sweet babysitter! So cute!
