Today I was reading through my comments left for me by my readers from my Sunday Stills post, so I could make sure to stop by and visit their blogs, leave a comment for them and say thank you.
Well, the first comment I read was from Wish I Had a Horsey's Blog and when I visited her blog, the first post that showed up was from February…not a Sunday Stills post at all. So I decided I’d still go ahead and read it anyway and leave a thank you comment just the same.
Well that post shook me for a loop! I was reading the post and smiling about her hubby reading her blog, as mine sometimes sneaks a peek at mine now and then, too. But then I read a little further on about how one of her favorite blogs was ending. Keep in mind, she made this post back in February.
I got kind of sad and wondered who it could be and if it was also one of my favorite blogs....and....and………
it was MY (!!) blog she was talking about.
Well that felt really weird…in a surreal way, but kind of nice, too.
Nice that there are people out there in the Blog Universe and real world that read about my life through my blog and actually even consider it one of their favorites. And then to even create a post about my blog when I decided to shut it down.
Wow. I’m honored. I had no idea. I just post my words and photos and don’t spend much time thinking about who might be reading. This really opened my eyes. Knowing that some of you actually missed my blog while I took that month off really means a lot to me.
I’m still on Facebook, but I’m trying to come back to blogging little by little. During the month that I was away, I discovered that I also missed the longer updates and stories that blogs provide. And keeping up with my blogger friends’ lives via your blogs was something I didn’t realize I’d miss until I stopped blogging. Facebook posts tend to be a little more brief, and of course, it’s a also more meager on the photo front, too. And I really do miss that most of all.
So, I just popped in just to say thank you to all of you who read my blog. Being reminded today that my life, shared through my photos and words on my blog, has touched other’s lives, and that it mattered to you that I went away, even if just for a little while, really means a lot to me.
More than I can say.

You summed up the difference between Facebook and blogging. I don't mind the wait (as you can tell, I don't post a lot) because your posts are well worth waiting for!
(PS - I really do want to be doing what you do when we retire!).
Sounds like you have a lot of great, loyal followers. :) Love the picture of the heart-stump!
I also took a break from blogging over the winter during a whole horse-selling fiasco that I went through. But now I'm back with a new pony! :) www.myponyamerica.blogspot.com. Just trying to get it out there and started all over again. It's so hard when you first start, with so few readers. The readers definitely give me a lot of motivation. :)
so glad you have decided to hang in there with us. Post as often or a little as you like, I will still check in
I am glad you are back... even if part-time. Post when you want and we will read. :-) I have showed many people your photos or said ...my blogger friend in New Mexico is having snow, or her chickens are doing this, or she takes the best pictures of her kids and landscapes....etc, etc.
That was really sweet of the blogger to do a post about you. I think there are a lot of bloggers out there that adore your blog, you have great stories and gorgeous pictures! I was really sad when I read you weren't going to be blogging anymore but now I'm happy to see you blogging again!
Im glad you are gonna post on her occacionally at least! I find on facebook it is hard to get the whole story out so and I want to hear all about your hiking and camping and riding :)
Well said.
Dan
I have enjoyed your recent posts! Your blog and been one of my long time favorites! =)
Love that big red heart filled balloon!
Cute photo of Apache!
You have a wonderful blog! I don't think facebook is a good place to share our lives and philosophies. I have both, but I just check in here and there to facebook. Honestly, I don't like facebook. It puts me together with people I don't know, and don't want to know or will never know. I prefer to choose who I read about and that's why I visit your blog. :0)
I find the same thing, Facebook is great for quick realtime updates, but hands down blogs give you more :)
it's nice to hear that someone really enjoys what you have to say...and really likes your photos...that is way better than worrying how many people comment or how many followers you have...
so nice to hear you are not completely leaving us...
You have to be kidding, your blog is one of the joys of my mundane life. Your pics and words make your blog one of my top 5 favorites and I was crushed to hear you were calling it quits, its good to be reading about the LOR again even if its only a couple of times a week, it really makes my day..:-))
I do like Fb, I have put my blog to private, with Fb you can control who reads what you share. but i do enjoy your blog!
Interesting how people use the different forms of social media. Facebook enhances my relationship to people I see in person on a regular basis. We do a lot of IM.
Oh and I found you through FernValley - yes FV, I have been stalking you and your computer hacking appys for a few blogs now ;). I just do not comment much.
I love that log. I enjoy reading your blog, and I love the photos, I love NM.
I'm not at all suprised that a fellow blogger would write about you ending your blog. I was bummed too. I don't blog...but LOVE following a few...yours is one of my favorites! I'm so glad to see you posting again! :)
I am very glad you are back.
Your pictures of the heartwood and your horse (big tongue) are great. You're a talented photographer with an observant eye. That;s one of the reasons I enjjoy your blog along with family notes and your narratives on your daily life and excursions. I do jope you will keep blogging as I prefer blogs over "social networking" and do not even have a FB account.
Right on...facebook has its purpose and so does blogger! I enjoy both but because facebbok is so fast and you get quick responces...its easy to get away from blogging because of it.I got a new operating system on my computor and had to learn a new way to get my photos...then my cell phone commiutted suicide and I had stupidly not backed up my photos...I lost the whole year of pictures :(((
My new goal is to blog once a week...I think that is a manageable goal for me...I hope you find your easy number :))) We all hated to see you shut it down!
