Guiterrez Canyon Open Space Ride

One of my favorite local places to ride is Guiterrez Canyon Open Space. My son and I have helped build trails there and the views are gorgeous and the terrain is always varied and interesting.

A male friend named Marek that I had known for over a year had been asking if I'd want to go riding sometime. I don't think he was interested in me as a potential girlfriend, and I was definitely not interested in him in that way at all. We both just wanted someone to ride with for safety's sake out on the trails.

He was just looking for people to ride with, and he seemed open to me showing him the Guiterrez Canyon Open Space trails....the ones that he had never discovered because he only rode the short 2 mile loop trail at the bottom of the west canyon. But I knew a couple access points up to the ridge trail that would drop us off into the eastern canyon on the other side.

I enjoyed the ride and showing Marek the new trails. And I was even a little surprised that he let me and Apache lead for the entire day because he rides a gaited horse and tends to cover ground pretty fast.

But Apache and I love to lead, so we didn't mind at all.

When you follow close behind another horse, your view never changes. Up in front, the view is always different.

On the way back to the trailhead, it started raining so we trotted and cantered the rest of the way.

Although, the ride was enjoyable, (because I was riding my awesome horse out in nature) I decided that Marek was just not someone I'd like to ride with again.

The End.
