Fourth of July Canyon Spur Trail Autumn Ride

The Fourth of July Canyon Spur Trail is just a short 1-2 mile ride one way, but the spectacular Fall color we encountered during our out-and-back ride was definitely not in short supply!

Apache and I leading the way on a gorgeous Autumn day!

We immediately realized the major difference between the Albuquerque Trail and the Spur Trail was the placement of the colorful Fall leaves.

They were mostly on the ground!
It was like riding through a deep, rich red carpet of gorgeous beauty!

But there was also plenty of other Fall colors, like yellow, gold and orange, too.

But the red colors were truly spectacular!

And riding through all that colorful Fall color interspersed and peeking out from beneath the tall trees was truly magical!

Renee was just as in awe as I was. We truly felt so blessed to have the opportunity to ride someplace so incredibly beautiful!

Just before we reached Fourth of July Canyon, we got to ride through an amazing burst of color in a tree tunnel!
When we exited the tree tunnel, we were greeted by 6-8 hiker tourists who asked if they could take our photos standing inside of the tree tunnel of color.
Well, of course, we agreed!
But Renee and I got to talking with several of the hiker tourists and then forgot to have them take a photo of us with my camera.
Phooey!
So, you'll have to take my word for the spectacular beauty of that tree tunnel!

But I do have this Trail Selfie that I took just before we entered the tunnel of color.

After we visited with the hiker tourists for a few minutes, we turned around and headed back the way we came.
We rode for about 20 minutes and then decided that we were ready to stop for lunch.

We found the perfect log to sit on to relax and enjoy our lunch, and it was surrounded by perfect trees to tie our horses to, so they could enjoy a nice rest beneath the tall pine trees.

My Awesome Trail Horse in her element!

Just had to take a close-up photo of my beautiful girl!

For lunch, my friend Renee surprised me with an all-organic, home-made BLT on sourdough bread. I have never eaten a BLT that delicious in my life!
She wanted to show her appreciation for me taking her on this Fourth of July Canyon ride and for sharing some of my favorite trails with her. I thought, what a generous and thoughtful thing to do!
Thank you Renee!

Red on the ground......

And red in the trees!

The last section of trail just before we arrived back at the trail head parking area.

But wait!!

That's not all!

When we rode back into the parking area, our horses did an unusual thing.  They didn't stop at our trailers and wait for us to dismount. They continued riding past our horse trailers!
Our horses told us in their own language, that they were enjoying the day just as much as we were and didn't want for it to end!
So, since we agreed with them, we allowed them to choose our next route.
And they chose.......

To be continued!!

Oh......and yeah....Life is Good!!!
