Juan Tomas OS/ Oak Flats Ride with Renee and Susie

A new friend, Renee, had been asking to ride with me for a couple months, so in September, I invited her to ride the Juan Tomas OS/ Oak Flats NF area. She asked if she could invite her neighbor friend, Susie, along for the ride, too.
So, I had them meet me at my house and follow me to the trail head and after tacking up, we headed out on the trail.

There was already some beautiful Fall color from the scrub oaks for us to enjoy.
Apache was a bit grumpy to stand still and have her photo taken. She just wanted to go, go, go!

Renee riding her Gypsy Vanner mare, and Susie on her QH gelding.

This was Renee's first time riding these trails and she was thrilled! It was only her Gypsy mare's first real trail ride.  I was happy to share some of my favorite trails with them. Renee's enthusiasm and appreciation were wonderful to be around.

Susie's gelding is absolutely charming. My Apache mare seemed to really like him a lot.

The day was gorgeous and the trails were beautiful!

I don't think Renee stopped smiling all day!

We all loved riding beneath the tall ponderosa pines.

Renee's mare was learning that trail riding was fun because there were lots of tasty vegetation to nibble along the way.

Gotta have a trail selfie!

Susie and her gelding led the way while I guided from the middle.

And Renee and her mare brought up the rear.

Great picture of Susie and her gelding among the pretty trees.

A Between-the-Ears photo of the beautiful trail.

Lots of pine cones!

We rode over to the picnic grounds and tied up our horses.
My beautiful Apache mare!!

Me and Renee...we wore the same color shirts that day...haha!

After a leisurely lunch, we climbed back in the saddle and began our ride back to the trail head.

I am so blessed to have these beautiful trails so close to my house.
My happy trail selfie!

Renee and Susie were a joy to ride with. By the end of the day, we were already making plans to ride together again soon.

And it was an absolutely gorgeous day with the most awesome horses!

The End!

Life is SO Good!!
