Pine Flats Ride

On a beautiful summer day I met up with a new riding companion, Judith and her handsome rescue appaloosa gelding, Bucket to ride Pine Flats in the Cibola National Forest.

Apache and I strolling along in beautiful Boulder Canyon.

Judith had never ridden on this particular trail as it's a kind of secret trail, not listed on any maps.
She fell in love with it's beauty.

This is the narrow section that was previously blocked by a small fallen tree that myself and another friend removed with our saddle saw and folding saws. You can see the stump of that tree over on the right side of the trail.

I enjoyed letting Judith lead so I could appreciate those lovely spots on Bucket's butt.

My happy trail selfie!

I am in love with all the tall ponderosa trees that shade these trails.

Judith and I took turns leading. Apache loves to lead the way.

The views are always changing when you're out in front.

Beautiful green grass meadow, only marred by the electric lines running through.

Bucket is such a charmer and very friendly. Apache didn't mind his affection, even on her blind side.

Awww....sweet kisses and nuzzles.

We stopped often to let our horses enjoy a snack of grass while we chatted.

I love riding through the groves of lush green scrub oak.

My "Who-Can-Be-Unhappy-While-Riding-A-Horse....Not Me" Selfie!

Judith and Bucket enjoying our wonderful ride out in the beautiful Manzanita Mountains.

Such a pretty trail.

We were surrounded by clouds, and we could hear thunder, but the sun shone above us during our ride.

The sky grew darker and cloudier, so we eventually chose a shorter route, so we could get back to the trailer parking area before any rain fell.

We still just relaxed and enjoyed our ride, though.

Ironically, it didn't start raining until after we returned to our trailers, unsaddled and watered our horses and quickly loaded them into our trailers.
And then it poured!

What a perfect ride!

Life is Good!
