Simple Sunday and a Limerick

I thought I'd give everyone a break from my recent wordy posts and just post a few simple photos, and later, a limerick I wrote.
So without further ado, I have some night time photos of my mare to share(hey! that rhymes), taken last night when my neighbor friend/riding buddy, Val came over to worm my horse for me, and work her in the round pen. Baby Doll hasn't been ridden for 3 weeks, ever since the day I fell off her on Christmas Eve. She's getting out of shape and her muscles are flabby like mine.
I was so excited to see my girl, I crutched myself outside. And one of my twinlings brought me a chair so I could watch, as well as visit, my furry paint pony.

(Thanks Val!!! You made my night!)

And finally, Gail At the Farm recently challenged her readers to come up with their own limerick. And seeing how poetry, especially cleverly written poetry, is one of my favorite things, I decided to come up with my own personal limerick. Let me know what you think.

And just so you know....Wickipedia says:
A limerick is a five-line poem with a strict form, originally popularized in English by Edward Lear. Limericks are witty or humorous, and sometimes obscene with humorous intent.

Here ya go:

There was a woman who rode a paint.
This horse was usually a saint.
But one day it did jump.
And the woman did thump.
And now, as for walking, she aint.

Haha, that's a good one! I think yours should win.

That was a good limerick. From the look in her eyes, I think your mare doesn't look too happy with you, guess she thinks you abandoned her. Beautiful pictures anyway.

Cathy, I think it may have been the flash of the camera that was annoying her. She was actually very sweet and affectionate with me, which is why it was impossible for me to take a photo of her entire head. She kept nuzzling me and seemed worried about my leg.

At one point I stood up and laid my head on her side and she move into me so that I could lean on her and put all my weight on her. It was quite touching.

Oh and she was probably a little tired from her lunging and round pen work...and she was also ready for dinnertim. lol!

Thanks Leah and Cathy. I'm glad you liked my limerick. :)

Nothing like a little horsey slobber to per things up is there? ;)

Glad that you were able to get some loves there, and be able to spend some time in the fresh air and with your horse.

Great limerick - I think all that time stuck with nothing to do makes you more creative! I loved the pictures too - Val is a super friend. I'm also envious of the fact you can be out in the evening with a light jacket on. Why do I live here again?

That's a cute little limerick!

Yeah, Baby Doll was very happy to see you again. Hopefully, you didn't get too gobbered up with her nuzzling you so much.

Those are excellent photos considering the lack of lighting although her ears look a bit "ghostly". Gosh, how is it that my hair looks so red??

Dolly ran quite a bit in the round pen. She even threw a few good bucks, enough to break a light sweat. Heck she ran more than my horses. Annie wasn't in the running mood tonight which is very unusual for her.

Jenna was also VERY happy to be out with Dolly. She brushed her a little and fed her cookies. Dolly is so good around her! I know she misses going out with you every day and hanging around the barn critters too.

PS- you do know that you've got word verification on, don't you? My word is "conke".

PSS- thanks for the eggs! We had eggs, bacon, and fried potatoes for supper last night. My boys love that for supper, as well as breakfast.

You may not care for poetry, but you are a poet and you don't know it. That really is quite good.

I'm glad you have someone who can help with things for your horse. It must make you feel better to know she's getting a workout now and then instead of standing.

Your limmerick rocks! Now your accident is immortalized.

Aren't you something!
Loved the Limerick too!

I agree - you can add poetess to your resume.

I'm particularly impressed that you restrained from using the word bucket. When I think of limmericks I immediately think of the one that starts:
There once was a woman from Nantucket...

take care!

Yea..more mare time!
Your limerick is the realy funny too.
Val is the best and she does the riding like my sissy...bareback. My mare's withers are oucy for me though- yesterday one of my friends and I discovered some padded unders in the Stable's restroom. We hooted, but secretly, I was thinkin' gotta find the owner so I can get me some!

Love the nightly shots of the mare with the ears.
Keep it up and your healin' will be speedy.
Think tomorrow you may see the mailman with somethin' fun!
