Hi Blog Friends!
Just wanted you all to know that I'm sorry I've been missing visiting everyone's blogs, but ever since the Dr. scared me on Thursday, about another possible surgery, I've been totally focused on doing my physical therapy exercises dutifully at home, and trying to push through the pain getting my knee to flex more every day. I'm getting so frustrated realizing that my body is just not doing what I want it to do. My knee gets to a certain point and then just doesn't want to move/bend anymore. So, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers still. I'd really appreciate them.
And I'll try to get caught up on all your wonderful blog updates throughout the week.
On Sunday, my neighbor friend Val~aka~Fiona, of Fantastyk Voyage blog called and asked me if I'd like for her to exercise my mare and work her in the arena. Of course, I said, "Sure!". Baby Doll hasn't been more than a pasture pet for the past 6 weeks, so I was very happy that my dear friend offered to work my girl. Val has 3 horses of her own to care for, exercise and ride so it means so much to me that she'd take time out to help me with my painted pony, too.
She brought Baby Doll down from the barn and I went out on our loft balcony to say hello before they headed for her arena.
Val invited my girl to stretch her legs and kick up her heels, which Baby Doll joyfully did.
I love this picture, not only is my horse running and having fun, but my buddy, Val has this beautiful smile on her face, too. (Click photo for larger view)
Val and I cheered Baby Doll and encouraged her to run. It was so awesome to see my mare having so much fun out there, tail up in the air, mane blowing, and feet flying.
Is there anything more beautiful than a running horse?
And look at my happy horse running barrels all on her own. hehe
Doesn't she have a pretty trot?
Here's she's winding down a bit finally.
It made me smile when my painted pony ran towards my direction as I cheered her on from my balcony.
Then it was time to saddle up, and I grabbed my crutches and made my way out to the arena to watch, visit Baby Doll and chat with Val.
Val worked on getting Baby Doll to bend her neck, be responsive to the bit, stop quickly, and transition to a trot smoothly. Baby Doll tends to jump/lunge into a trot and it feels like riding a jackhammer when she starts out.
I was really impressed with my horse's willingness to work, too. She never kicked out or gave Val any crowhops or small bucks. She still didn't like moving into a trot, though, and let us know with her flat ears. lol!
Val and Baby Doll worked well together, though. And I enjoyed sitting in my camp chair while watching her ride my mare.
I also enjoyed chatting with Val and visiting with Baby Doll, who wasn't bothered by my crutches, like she was by my walker.
After the arena work we thought it would be great for Val to take Baby Doll for a ride around the neighborhood.
Val said that Baby Doll got a little nervous when she walked near the area where my wreck happened back in December. Baby Doll's got a very good memory, so we'll have to work on moving her past that nervousness over the next couple months.
It was just so wonderful seeing my mare get some exercise and be ridden. Baby Doll seemed to enjoy herself, too.

What a great friend to come and give Baby Doll a great work out for you!
Keep up your excersises!
Neighbors are such blessings...we have the same relationship with our neighbors and trade stuff all the time.
I'll keep you in my prayers~~hugs~
She's beautiful! ....and what a great friend! Looks like she's having as much fun as Baby Doll.
Blessings to you from the Ridge!
That's so nice of Val to keep Baby Doll in practice for you.
Good friend. Good horse. Good post.
Val looks like she knows her stuff! Your baby is like a real live breyer horse, that's what little girls dream of - such beautiful markings. What wonderful pictures!
Baby Doll looks so pretty! I am so partial to black and whites! I really like the picture of her looking up at you when she is in the arena! So sweet.
I don't know where you should be in your recovery but it took me a long time to recover from my knee surgery and I didn't have to have a total ligament replacement, just the same ligament fixed. After 3 years I still can't bend my knee completely. You know how people can sit their butts down on the back of their legs? I will never be able to do that again. Just keep doing what you can. Believe me, it is so hard and you will doubt yourself that you will never recover but you WILL!
What terrific photos! They really show what great action BAby Doll has. Your neighbor is a keeper. The exercises she was doing are exactly what good saddle horses need. Keep doing those exercises - we are rootin' for you!
This reminds me of the numerous times I went to the race track after my accident, just to enjoy watching my mare run. That's how she turned into a race horse, by the way.
Baby Doll looks so proud! I love her run with her tail held high!!
I love the photos with her tail flagged. She is so beautiful. And what a great friend you have in Val!
You keep up the good work and we'll keep up the prayers so pretty soon it will be you out in the arena with a big smile on your face as Baby Doll enjoys her time with you.

Great post! Love the pictures of Baby Doll, she is a beautiful horse.
I hope your recovery is a speedy one and you can get back to riding your horse soon. I feel VERY fortunate to have never been hurt badly in my many falls off my horse!
You hang in there, you will make it!
Love your blog!! :-)
That had to lighten your heart! A good friend and a good horse.
Yay! What a great friend and a beautiful horse. I'm glad you got to go down and watch up close.
Of COURSE we have you in our prayers here Lisa! ;) Silly girl... how could we NOT?!
Your mare looks great! Who had the bigger smile at the end of the day- Baby Doll or Miss Val?
Glad you are able to get out some now too. Being in the sunshine and fresh air sure helps pick up spirits!
Sending well wishes your way.. You can do it you're a determined woman and can do anything. Glad Baby Doll got some exercise and didn't give Val any trouble. You'll be up and riding before you know it.
What a wonderful time for Baby Doll! You have a wonderful, kind, thoughtful neighbor! I enjoyed seeing all the photos. She does look beautiful when she runs!
Val is truly a friend! I'm glad that Baby Doll got some exercise and you got to be around her with a smile on your face. Baby Doll looked like she was having a good time.
I just noticed on Baby Doll how the black starting to go down her legs just stops, like someone dipped her legs in white paint :))
That's great that she will be in shape for you when you are ready and rearing to get back on. Can you believe, it's been almost TWO months?? You're a 1/3 of the way there!! Keep your chin up :))
Aww, I love those pics of Baby Doll running! And that last one of her in her bridle.
What a gorgeous pony. Love her winter coat :). She's like a big panda! lol
That pic of her pinning her ears reminds me so much of Daisy. Daisy used to pin her ears and buck a little when I first bought her and I'd ride and ask for a trot. I just pushed her through it and now she's fine.
Glad for you and Baby Doll that she got some excersise. :)
OH!!!!!! I totally forgot to say, I got your scarf and hat! THANK YOU! They are beautiful! I got them in the mail I think on Friday...but in any case, I love the colors and the wool is so thick. Thank you. :)
What a blessing you have such a great neighhhhhhhhh bor !
I can't wait to see her in her Hot Pink Halter!
Such super pictures! Your mare is so pretty!
Glad to hear you smile. It sounded so nice!
Ooooh, I hate seeing pictures of myself riding, rounded shoulders, arms too far forward, leaning forward, ugh!
Baby Doll did really well! I was so glad to ride her English, she has such a nice strong trot! Over time, she will slow down and you'll love jogging her, you'll see! She's a little stiff on the front end but we'll work on that. She was skittish around the area you fell, but I'll get her used to riding out more before you get on again. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoyed watching your gorgeous black and white Doll in action. I enjoyed putting her through her paces.
I loved watching her run! We'll have to do that again soon!
I love that first picture! She's like, "Whatcha doin' up there, Mom?"
She still loves you. Yay!!! :o)
There you are. Very good reason to be absent too. You go girl, we are praying for you.
Val has such a sweet nature!I loved the pic of Baby Doll and Val looking up to you! And the last one of her with thet look!
Nice watching her run and play then work.
It'll be you soon!

Aren't friends just the best thing! Nice to see the pictures of both your favorite girls!
Great pictures and Val's a great friend.

Keep healing and working on that knee! You can do it, especially with that inspiration just out your window there!
Everyone needs a friend like Val, lucky for me I have one named Laura! She takes great care of my animals when needed!
Bady Doll was lookin good kicking up some dust too!
More jingle for that pesky knee!
You are so blessed, a really good friend, a beautiful horse and a blog to post about it.
I really love your photos it must have been a delight to see Val ride your painted pony.
I hope you do really well with your knee flexes.
Take care
xoxoxoxo
It was really wonderful of Val to work Baby Doll like this for you. It looks like they both had a good time! What a good friend Val is to you.
I am so happy you had a wonderful time with Baby Doll, even though it was from the side line. I thoroughly enjoy watching my Sissy get ridden by my best friend too. So I know that even though you weren't riding Baby Doll, you still enjoyed your time. She is such a pretty horse, and looks like she moves wonderful. Sissy pins her ears when I make her trot too! Quite funny.
You are so lucky to have found Val!!! What a great friend and neighbor she has become. :)
I love Baby Doll's face in that first picture. She is definitely looking up at you to see what you are doing, and she probably wonders why you are up there and not down with her.
Keep working on that knee of yours!! Each consecutive surgery has the potential to leave more scar tissue and adhesions, so do what they tell you! :)
God has given you an incredible gift in the friendship of Val. You are so blessed!
How wonderful for your friend/ neighbor Val to ride Doll for you. Your horse is very pretty- I do love paints. You are in my prayers - get better soon so you can ride your Doll.
Caprice
PS- re: Val's post - you looked great on her!
Val is a great friend to help out and I'm sure Baby Doll loved the exercise too.
I always like seeing my horse being ridden by someone else. You can really see what your horse looks like and how they move. Val's a great friend. Glad your pony didn't run from you and the crutches as well.
Aww, Baby Doll looks like she's having a good time. What a great friend to come over and do that for you!
Your Baby Doll is beautiful. Very nice shots! I love the last one of her.
I agree that running horses are the most beautiful sight in the world, Rapunzel.
Must be a relief to know that your painted pony is getting exercise and a bit of training while you're recovering, so she'll be ready to go when you are. (and I hope that's soon!)
Hooray for horsey time!! Val is such a great friend to come over and work Baby Doll for you!! It really did look like Baby Doll was having a fantastic time running all around. :)
And I am glad she is not scared of your crutches. It won't be too much longer and you will be up there riding too!! Keep up the good PT, and it will all work out in the end.
Well it sure was nice of Val. And the great pics of BD having such fun. And wonderful of you being able to partake in the joy. It won't be long and we will be seeing you back on BD and I am looking forward to seeing the big smile on your face again.
Hooray Val! Aren't good girlfriends the best! I'm glad BD is getting some work. They'll fall very quickly into loving the leisurely pasture life if they aren't worked.
Very glad to see that she isn't afraid of you anymore, and that it was the walker and not you.
Lisa I'll let you in on a little secret... whenever we drive by our church we cross ourselves and say a little prayer. In the Greek Orthodox Church we cross ourselves 3 times. So my little prayer goes "Thank you for all my friends and family, human and animal. Please keep them happy and healthy."
For the last little while there has been a small addition, "Please help Lisa and Steph make full recoveries".
PS - love the pics, that day must have been good for your spirit!
I love Val! She seems like such a neat lady and nice friend to you. I really enjoyed these pictures--happy horse, happy friend.
