Pink Ponies

My 6 yr old daughter, Jenna is in her second year of playing T-Ball for her team, the Pink Ponies.

Because of her Aspergers and OCD, she faces some challenges when learning new things. But we are amazed this year at how far she’s come and how well she does playing T-Ball for her team.

Her teammates and coaches are so supportive and caring for my daughter. Jenna is always excited about playing ball with the Pink Ponies.

Last year we had to run alongside Jenna to help her remember when and where to run the bases. But not anymore.

She sometimes gets sidetracked creating art in the dirt at a base, while waiting for another teammate at bat to hit the ball, but she comes out of it much easier and knows just what to do.

I’m so proud of my daughter and I’m so happy for her. Over the weekend, the Pink Ponies played the Heart Breakers and won by a landslide. They all played well together and it was great to see all the girls having fun.

Not a Pink Pony, but a cute mule owned by one of our neighbors. This neighbor leads pack/hunting trips in the Capitan and Sacramento Mountains in Southern New Mexico.

I was impressed with the mule’s unique coloring. It looks like it rolled in black soot.

Just another long-eared critter, a Jack Rabbit we saw out in a field not far from the mule.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Jenna looks great out their playing T-ball! You must be so proud of her!
I love the name of her team, the Pink Ponies! Love it!
That is one interesting color on that Mule! Sure does look like it rolled in something!

Looks like she's having a great deal of fun!

Aspergers can be a real challenge - My grandfather had it, bad. It's so outstanding that you know about it, and can help her learn coping skills. Grandfather wasn't so lucky, and the whole family has had reason to regret that lack.

We don't get much in the way of organized little league here, so my five-year old doesn't have that available. OTOH, the local soccer leagues are excellent; I guess I'll have to pry loose another few hours a week... ;-)

How do you manage to keep up with the ranch, the kids, and your own life..? Color me impressed!

Oh, and yeah, that's some interesting markings on that mule. I suppose there's an 'official' name for that kind of marking?

Jenna is adorable! There's not too many things cuter than little ones decked out in their sports attire. As a nurse, I'm glad that you are aware of Jenna's diagnosis of Aspergers at a young age...so many folks go through life with dealing with issues and never were told what they had. Jenna is precious but, Lisa, you get the crown! You're her mama!! I have a great admiration for you.

That's great that Jenna is on such a supportive team. My daughter's 2nd grade teacher's son is autistic, and she's found a few activities like Tai Kwon Do that he can do thanks to instructors and other students who have an understanding of his challenges, and are willing to work with his mother on behavior plans. My son is nearly sixteen and he's still playing in the dirt in the infield and in the grass in the outfield! He's a daydreamer.

I didn't know your daughter has Asperger's. I used to work with a girl who had Asperger's, so I know a little about the challenges you must face. But she is beautiful and it looks like she is having a lot of fun!

I often think that if my in-laws hadn't sheltered my sister-in-law so much it would have been better. I'm quite sure she has Aspergers although its NOT something the family will ever discuss or acknowledge.
She grew up pretty much going to school and home. And now its work (sort of, 2 evenings a week) and home.
Just MO but I think it would have been better if they'd have let her do more social activities.

Awww what great pics!! I wish they would've had a pink ponies team for me to be on when I played ball. Any horse themed team would've been nice actual.

Your Jenna looks just like you! It's great that she's involved and supported. Cool lookin' mule and love the jack rabbit. I had my British family believing there were such things as Jackalopes once, LOL!

Your daughter is such a doll! I wasnt aware she has aspergers! We think my nephew does..but my brother is such a selfish un-knowledgeable, terd...he doesnt see there is a problem and without his interest..well poor John is flying blind. He has come a long way over the last 6 months after moving on the farm and staying with us on nights (my brother works nights or early morning) but he has a long way to go still. You have done a lot with your daughter and it shows what a good parent can do! kudos to you!!

Way-To-Go Jenna! I love that team spirit! Your picture of the coach and they hitting hands in unison is the best! A-Postcard for the team, I think!
ooou and the mule...sometime, I do think I would like to own a mule...I see tons of people riding them in Christian trail riders and I am facinated...hear they are very smart.

Go Jenna, go! I think it's awesome that she gets out there and plays.

They have such cute uniforms. The one girl's heart socks were great!
