Sunday Stills ~ Sports

This week’s Sunday Stills Challenge is Sports. Being that it’s full-blown winter here this week and the only sports I’ve seen are kids sledding down snow covered hills, I had to go dig into my archives.

1)My daughter, Jenna, waiting to run the bases playing for her Pink Ponies T-Ball team.

Goodbye Pink Ponies!

Well at least until next year. My 6 yr old daughter’s last Pink Ponies T-Ball game and Awards Ceremony was this past weekend. She was so excited and so we’re we! Ranchman John was out of town on business, so it was just me and my 12 yr old twinlings, Jax and Jem to help cheer her on and help her celebrate with the team.

IMG_9624

First the team warmed up on the fields. As you can see, even my twinling Jax joined in for the warm-up, too in support of his sis.

IMG_9628

Some stretching, too.

The Pink Ponies typically play on one of the actual baseball fields, but sometime during the previous night, the sprinklers broke and flooded two of the fields. The maintenance department managed to get the sprinklers turned off and fixed and even to get one of the fields cleaned up, but the other one was too flooded to be used. So they set the team up out on the grass, which wasn’t too bad, since it was fairly dry and it was cooler and a softer surface to play on. The girls seemed to like it.

Jenna was up at bat early on in the line-up. She loves to hit the ball. The coach is very patient and supportive of Jenna and the issues involving her Aspergers and OCD.

YAY JENNA!!!!

IMG_9644

Wait for it………….Run for Home, Baby!

IMG_9649

Next it was time for some Outfield Moments, which Jenna is not as fond of. Her big bro, Jax joined her out there, just to show his support.

IMG_9638

Then the coach offered the opportunity to Jenna to play Catcher, which Jenna turned down the last time she was asked. Not sure why she changed her mind, but she was very happy to get all geared up, though it’s difficult to tell in this photo. hehe.

IMG_9655

And she seemed to know just what to do, too. Her brother, Jax was there with her just in case. He played catcher for his baseball team this past Spring.

IMG_9657

I love that Jax was out there with his sister of his own free will….because he wanted to be there for her, not because I asked him to, which I didn’t have to. These are the moments a Mom lives for.

IMG_9660

Jenna kept getting side-tracked by some gliders and airplanes that were flying all around the ball field from the tiny airport next door.

IMG_9664

She asked me to take photos of the planes and I promised her I would.

Then the game was over……Time to high-five the other team (The Heartbreakers) and thank them for a great game.

IMG_9665

Yay! Pink Ponies!!!!!

IMG_9668

(Both of Jenna’s twin brothers, Jax and Jem were out there with her and the team to help them celebrate. Woot! Woot!)

Then while the team was waiting for the Awards Ceremony to begin, they played a couple games of Duck, Duck, Goose.

Then it was time for all the teams to line up for the Awards Ceremony.

IMG_9683

Jenna was soon called up to the table to accept her awards and trophies. All the players were given a trophy, necklace and a t-shirt.

IMG_9684

Everyone cheered her on. She was so excited!

IMG_9685

And the Pink Ponies Coaches were awarded a Championship Trophy for their team, too!

IMG_9687

It was a long day, and she was very tired when it was all over, but Jenna was so happy to be a participant on her Pink Ponies Team.

IMG_9700

There is an end-of-season party planned at one of the family’s homes, but then Pink Ponies is over until next year: 2010. Yay Pink Ponies! Go Team!

IMG_9702 (Jenna was SO ready to go home by the time these photos were taken. Can you tell? haha! Poor baby girl! *grin*)

After we left there, we had to make one more stop before going home, and we let Jenna ride a pony…..(And I rode, too!) You’ll just have to come back later to read and see more about that. hehe!

I’m Back!!

Howdy Y’all! I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend. I’ve been back home since Sunday evening. It’s taken me two days to get caught up on sleep and rest and I’ve been busy since I got home, too. I have tons of photos and stories to share from our holiday weekend. We ended up exploring and letterboxing so much, that the only time spent at Val’s cabin was to sleep. hah!

And while I was gone, Ranchman John was busy, too. He took the kids to the huge fireworks display and music concert in Albuquerque, drove down to Los Lunas for the big Polocrosse Tournamant, and stood beside the Moriarty parade route to cheer on our 6 yr old daughter, Jenna as she threw candy and waved from her T-Ball team’s Pink Ponies float!

Here are some photos from those activities, taken by my twinling Jax and Ranchman John with our old Samsung camera.

It rained on July 4th during the parade, but everyone had a great time anyway. This is the Pink Ponies float. Jenna is in the center, third person from the left.

I think Jax and my hubby took some pretty good pictures. What do you think? Jax told me he took all the equine photos with me in mind, saying, “Mom will be so excited to see this horse, or this mule, etc” Yep, Jax I loved all the equines and your photos were terrific! I’m disappointed to have missed the parade, but the photos made me feel like I was right there. *smile*

And Jax even managed to capture a photo of a Laughing Orca, too!

Pink Ponies

My 6 yr old daughter, Jenna is in her second year of playing T-Ball for her team, the Pink Ponies.

IMG_5296

Because of her Aspergers and OCD, she faces some challenges when learning new things. But we are amazed this year at how far she’s come and how well she does playing T-Ball for her team.

IMG_5289

IMG_5299

Her teammates and coaches are so supportive and caring for my daughter. Jenna is always excited about playing ball with the Pink Ponies.

IMG_5306

Last year we had to run alongside Jenna to help her remember when and where to run the bases. But not anymore.

IMG_5293

She sometimes gets sidetracked creating art in the dirt at a base, while waiting for another teammate at bat to hit the ball, but she comes out of it much easier and knows just what to do.

IMG_5297

I’m so proud of my daughter and I’m so happy for her. Over the weekend, the Pink Ponies played the Heart Breakers and won by a landslide. They all played well together and it was great to see all the girls having fun.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not a Pink Pony, but a cute mule owned by one of our neighbors. This neighbor leads pack/hunting trips in the Capitan and Sacramento Mountains in Southern New Mexico.
IMG_5451
I was impressed with the mule’s unique coloring. It looks like it rolled in black soot.
IMG_5457
Just another long-eared critter, a Jack Rabbit we saw out in a field not far from the mule.
IMG_5440
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
