Macro Monday ~ Creepy Skull

This is something I found while riding my horse Apache out on a trail ride on Sunday.

My friend Colleen carried it back in her saddlebags for me, so I could bring it home and show my kidlets. You could say we have a fascination with bones……..

What kind of animal do you think this once was?

Pig? It looks like it might once have been by the teeth that jut out a little bit. You find such interesting things around your place.

What an awesome find! The kidlets would probably like to hear that it is some sort of exotic, very rare dinosaur. Hmmmm, you could call it a Peccasaurus! But in reality, I think it is from a javelina, also known as the Peccary.
I've never seen one up close and personal, but when I'd visit my parents in Arizona, my mom would often warn me to be on guard for the javelinas.

I vote for a pig also, perhaps even a wild hog/javelina.

The teeth are quite unique. How big is it?

To me it looks like something in the pig family... pig, wild boar, javelina, etc.

I have to say that the first shot sure has the wow factor. Love the lighting and the angle.

Pig was my first thought, also. Cool skull, whatever it is.

Is it one of those Javalenas (sp)? It looks ancient, but then climate probably has an effect. Very neat and artistic photos, with an interesting subject.

a tyrannasaurus rex!

YOU like bones and skulls... riding with my friend Maryanne in Egpyt in the desert once, we came across a skull... a HUMAN skull... and SHE TOOK IT HOME! rode with it wrapped up in a shirt all the way home, brought it in the house, and kept it! She had to hide it one day when a maid came - because it freaked the maid out - but she wanted to put it in the room I was staying in, and I said no way! I don't care who it is, I'm not sleeping with a human skull!
