Even I have to admit that my playlist is playing a very appropriate song, in light of the tragedy and chaos that our country is currently experiencing right now.
It really is a Mad World we live in……..
To learn more about flying the flag at half-mast:

It's at times like this that I am continually amazed at what craziness there is in the world. I'm tired of hearing about the person who caused all the pain, and why didn't anyone spot it sooner. Tell us more about the people who ran into the midst of the chaos and helped friends, loved ones, and strangers. Don't give the man anymore air time, it's just giving him what he wants.
Give credit to those brave souls who put others before themselves...
This is such a sad event. I can say having lived in Canada, but traveling to the US often for family etc I have NEVER seen anyone carrying a gun for self defense, let alone seen a handgun. Every gun here is for hunting or necessary farm duties (Like "feeding" varmints that cause EPM and other diseases, aka possum).
ps- 9 hours from you in Oklahoma, I guess thats closer than Ontario. So I should start to plan my trip to come visit you now? :P I wonder how much a bus ticket would cost? Though I only get Sunday's off :C not much time to travel in a day.
Very appropriate. Good post.
A terrible tradgedy
Thanks for the tribute. I can't even wrap my brain around the tragedy, especially the young girl he killed. My yahoo news showed that guy's grinning face all day yesterday and almost made me sick.
Oh, and my Air Force officer husband, who has also been a sailor of tall ships, is adamant that "flying at half staff" is the proper term for this practice on land, not "half mast". Wikipedia says that "half staff" is erroneous, but they are wrong, at least in the USA. Half staff is the correct term for use on land. Half mast refers to ships.
Don't worry about posting this. I don't really want to debate it or get anyone ruffled. I just thought I'd throw it out as an FYI.
Such sad events!
The flag looks so pretty against the bright blue sky!
This song was used in a soap opera when a seriel killer was running amuck. I guess that's why it always makes me feel like creepy crawlies are running over me when I hear it. You're so right about it being appropriate at this time.
I feel for all the people involved. I guess I feel linked in a way to congresswoman's family in particular because I have travelled that road with a loved one recovering from extensive brain trauma. It's just all so senseless.
Thanks for the post.
My prayers are with the families of the victims.
I can't tell you how many times in the past few days I have stopped to assess the situation I'm in and the people I've seen around me. But you can never predict.
It is a mad world. :( You should be able to go to the grocery store without getting shot :(
It is sad to think about what the world is coming to.
Beautiful photo but overwhelmingly sad.
Crazy people are all over the place. You never know where they'll turn up and that's the scary part.
I feel so sorry for all the families who lost someone. Especially that poor little girl. So sad and unnecessary.
Such sadness..for everyone. It seems our world is becoming more violent all the time:(
