I received an email this morning from one of the management volunteers over at the Horse Rescue where I volunteer. It seems that Walkin N Circles Ranch Horse Rescue is in dire straights today after last nights temperatures dived down to –27 degrees up here in our mountains in Central New Mexico. The ranch’s main water pump has cracked and several pipes have broken and burst, too. All the water tanks are frozen solid and even their solar water tanks are blocks of ice.
Therefore there is no water available for any of the 67 horses and one donkey in their care!
So this is a plea for help from everyone in our kind, caring and generous horse community. WNCR needs water trucked into the ranch and they need a plumber to come out and assess and repair the broken pump and pipes asap!
Walkin N Circles Ranch Horse Rescue is a recognized and reputable equine rescue in New Mexico. They have rescued, rehabilitated and adopted out hundreds of horses over the years. They get no assistance from the state and all money comes from fund raisers and donations. All of the money goes straight to the horses in the form of feed, vet care, farrier care, training, and ranch maintenance.
Please consider helping them today? Any little bit will help.
All donations are tax deductible as WNCR is a sanctioned non-profit (501c3) organization. There is a PayPal button on their website on the top right corner, or you contact them directly by emailing:
Or calling: (505) 286-0779 (As for Anna, Loeta, Colleen, Cheri, or Christine)
Also if you are planning on doing any shopping via Amazon.com, please consider going through Walkin N Circles Ranch Horse Rescue and click on their Amazon link to make your purchases. A portion of each sale, done through that link, will go directly to WNCR, and to the 67 horses and one donkey that call Walkin N Circles their current home.
Please help.

Lisa, well done. I wish I could help with the water and/or plumbing, but I don't have any contacts in either.
I'll offer up a prayer.

Too far away to do anything physical, of course, but I sent a dribble. Wish it could be more but I know from experience that those dribbles can add up, so, hopefully, they'll end up with enough to pay for repairs.
I wondered how you all keep water to your animals when it's soooo cold.
This weather is so very unusual for your area I gather , So sorry this hapened and I hope it gets resolved quickly ! Prayers for all the kind people and yourself. Will do what I can
Lisa...headed to the site with my PayPal password. Thanks for letting me help in some way!

I hope your blog serves to spread the word far and wide! There's a little headed their way from my bank account, thanks to you.
(I had to smile a little at that first "oh noes!" picture of the mule.)
Oh goody, an excuse to buy from Amazon.
"But, Honey, I have to buy these things to help out the Walkin'N Circles Ranch!"
What a tough break for them.
I hope your plea brings some help!
Oh, Lisa so glad you posted about this. I hope that things get back fixed real soon, if I didn't live clear across the country I would love to help out. (Love the pictures of Ruby, what a sweet donkey!)
I did paypal money to help out.
(next time you are out there, give Ruby's beautiful ears a scratch for me, if she approves of course!) :-)
hugs....

I'm glad you posted this. I donated but I live across the country so can't get out there or I would in a heartbeat! I hope everything works out well for them all, and you're a real sweetheart to post about it! www.timsboots.com
Please keep us updated!
Hope things improve for them. It seems that everyone is going through tough times right now. I hope your PSA helps them.
And me too- I've got the same problem, although not so many mouths. My water pipe burst the other day so alas, my horses are lucky to get a warm drink a day until it warms up.
I shared the link to this post on my facebook. Wish I could help further.
This was a really nice post to get the word out! Gonna go to their site now...
I love when animals play in the snow. Somehow it makes the cold more bearable. lol
