With our very busy schedule, activities and my recent neck/back injuries I’ve just not had any motivation or time at all to update and post on my blog.
As some of you know I’ve even tossed around the idea of just shutting down my blog because maybe then I’ll feel like I have gained some kind of control in one part of my life and my world might stop spinning so fast.
I figured that with the big drop in comments, no one would miss my blog anyway.
But some of you have told me otherwise and for all of you, I want you to know I appreciate you and will try to keep blogging, updating and keeping in touch.
And even though I still want to share the details of how I spent last weekend, I realized the other day that it’s been several weeks since I last did an update on our summer chicks, who are now 15 weeks old.
They are doing great and have really grown up! I still call them the chicks, even though they are almost the same size as the rest of our hens.
The integration into the main coop and hen house went smoothly.
It only took two nights of us carrying most of the chicks into the hen house at dusk for them to figure out that was where they needed to roost at night.
There haven’t been any fights or aggressive behavior between the older hens and the chicks and everyone is getting along well.
This week we decided to let them all out together for the first time to free range and the chicks were cautious, but very excited about exploring their new environment.

They all seemed to enjoy the extra room to run around, flap their wings and explore all the vegetation and interesting and tasty insects.
The chicks are still very friendly and like to gather around wherever we are standing or sitting down.
Some of them still jump into our laps as soon as we sit down, and a few of them love to be picked up and carried around.
I am very happy with the way this flock of chicks have progressed and Jen and I have enjoyed watching them grow up.

You have the best adventures, and I'd sure miss hearing about them.
I rarely get more than about 7-8 comments on a post to begin with, but I keep plugging along. We'll have to see what happens after Daltrey turns two in March.

What a relief that the chick integration went so smoothly. Are you still planning on selling some? You have such an interesting-looking flock now!
My fault in not checking in more often. I've been dragging lately, and haven't been paying as much attention as I should to the blogs I follow. Yours is one that I would really miss, though, so I hope that you continue, even if it's only once in a while.
I love the chicks. What a colorful bunch they have turned out to be. Still planning on selling some of them, or have they become part of the family?
What a fluffy end. I think I had sympathy pains for you yesterday, because I had a kink in my neck shoulder and back, and almost canceled my appointment at the hair salon, because I knew it would hurt to lean back into that sink basin, but I survived and my hair is so much more manageable now. I'm glad the chicks integrated seamlessly. I'd really love to come visit you some day and sit in a chair with all those chickens around. Comments are slow at the moment for everyone, but it doesn't reflect anything on you. It's just what is going on in other people's lives. Blogging is a hard habit to break. We all eventually come back.
Like everyone else, I did not know you were hurt. I hope it is not too serious. I just wanted to tell you that I would certainly miss your blog. I don't comment a bunch, but I love visiting every morning with my cup of coffee. Your photography is awesome and NM is beautiful!!

I have been down too, I had a hysterectomy last Monday. Coming back fast though!!!

Jen is definitely the Chicken Queen. I think she's (barely) cuter than the birds, and that's saying a buncha cuteness!

Our spring chicks have started laying this week--big excitement. I have a chair out by the coop just to watch.

I'd sure miss your updates! I know that blogging is sometimes hard- but then I stay awake at night thinking about what I want to say to everyone. But mostly I blog for me- and I hope you are doing it for you too! The rest of us are just frosting on a cracker!
They're so cute! I like the picture of the one looking at her reflection in the glass. I love chickens, they're an endless source of entertainment. Our chicks are laying now, and broody already! I put them in the chicken coop so I could keep track of them and they don't like it at all.
What kind are the two that look like Silver Seabrights but have feathery legs? I love our Silver Seabright hen, Das. She's beautiful and follows me everywhere "pit-pat-pit-pat-pit-pat" but she is very clear about not wanting to be loved too closely.
Neck and back injury is not good! I hope it's something that will heal and not cause you lasting trouble. I wish you could go to my chiropractor. He's a miracle worker. He rarely adjusts me and would never hurt anyone, mostly just does energy work and it's really strange but it really helps.
I hope you feel better soon, and don't leave the blog world! We'd miss you a lot. And I'd really miss your photos of my old homeland.

I haven't really been commenting much lately, as I am in the midst of wedding plans for my daughter. I DO still try and read your blog everyday. I would miss hearing about your adventures. Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way. :)
Lisa, I very much enjoy reading your blog and seeing your progress with Apache and news about the children and the farm animals. I don't comment often because, living in the UK, my comments are often not relevant to you. I have had a similar experience with horses to you and I have gained much comfort from reading about your progress. Keep it up.
