Equine Skull

When I dropped off my sons at their summer camp where they work as counselors every summer, I spied an equine skull on the front porch of one of the cabins. It was laying in two separate pieces and it bugged me to see it like that, so I fitted the pieces together and then I was inspired to take a photo of it. I was secretly wishing that I could have brought this equine skull home, but a photo had to suffice. I have always loved the stark beauty of skulls and bones and even have a special collection that I keep in my ‘Bone Garden”.

                                          It’s a New Mexico thing.

Beautiful, Georgia!

I have a skull tree. How weird is that?

I love your new header too. It's nice to see you and Apache having such a great time.

Interesting how many people collect bones. I used to like walking the beaches and collecting driftwood and shells. Don't do it anymore since we moved away from the shore. Guess it depends where you live in the country what interests you. Neat skull.

When I was a kid I visited my grandparents in Arizona. I loved hiking around their ranch. I stumbled upon the animal graveyard. I still remember the awe of finding so many bones, all bleached white. It was eerie, but also very beautiful.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new header, so beautiful of you and Apache girl!!! The skull is neat, I was thinking it must be a Quarter horse, very large jaw, Gilly's would be much slimmer....weird thought but it just went through my head. Gilly has a much slimmer face and jaw. Skulls are neat, I don't collect them but always found them fascinating!

That is pretty cool! Skulls and bones have always interested me but I don't have any (okay I have to admit, I do have a boneyard in my back yard... mice, birds, shrews etc from my outdoor cat). Just the occasional stray deer bones my dogs bring home but we throw them away. For some reason watching my dog chew on a deer bone with hair and hoof still attached is a little gruesome to me! LOL!

You know...I don't think I have ever seen an equine skull! Very interesting indeed!

I have 2 horse skulls, one on either side of my big garage door. (we call it a barn, but it's really a garage) One of them has a driving bridle on and was home to some little birdies last year. These were placed there courtesy of my daughter, who loves to collect things on her rides.
