Last summer, I was asked to lead a ride for a few BCHM folks, in one of my favorite local National Forest areas, David Canyon. We all met up at the trail head.
The parking area isn't huge but it's sufficient enough for a few horse trailers as long as not too many cars are parked there.

I have always liked the trails in David Canyon because they are so diverse, with flat sections, steep hills, ridge top view trails, and lots of beautiful trees and vegetation.
This was my trail companions' first time to ride in David Canyon. They were in for a treat.
I love riding beneath the tall ponderosas among the green meadows in David Canyon.
Apparently, my trail companions did, too. They were smiling for most of the day.
Riding up and into the section with huge boulders is fun, too.

It had rained recently, so there were quite a few large puddles to ride through and around.
I am so lucky to live only 15-20 minutes from these trails. As the crow flies, David Canyon is basically in my backyard.
We even got to see several deer among the trees.
Riding in the desert can be beautiful, too, but after a while my eyes crave the views of lush, green vegetation and tall trees. There is nothing better than riding within cool, green forests.

We had a great ride as usual, but Apache was ready to go home, relax and tuck into a pile of green hay.
