One of my favorite places to ride is also basically in my back yard: Oak Flats in the Cibola National Forest.
I joined up with my Back Country Horsemen Chapter for a Spring Training Ride this past Spring in Oak Flats and it was a beautiful day and a wonderful ride.
There are places along the trail where the trees thin out a bit and the views towards the north are just spectacular! The Sandia Mountains are always a delight to see from the trail.
Yes indeed! This is my "Happy-to-be-out-in-nature-riding-my-awesome-horse" selfie!
And even though the weather was just slightly chilly, there were still patches of snow beneath shady trees.
Riding beneath the tall ponderosa trees always makes my heart sing!
We had a good sized group of 12-13 riders.
About halfway through our ride we all stopped for a lunch break.
Apache and I have ridden the Oak Flats area trails countless times over the years. We both enjoy it.
I am truly a mountain girl and love to ride beneath a beautiful canopy of trees.
These trails are always so beautiful, yet relaxing, quiet and peaceful. Nothing too challenging, most of the trails are flat or gently rolling. And not very many rocky sections.
I just riding here!
The filtered light streaming through the treetops is just magical!
Oh yeah. This is my "Life is Good" selfie!
