Zuni Mountains Horse Camping Trip, Day Three

One day three of our Zuni Mountains camping trip, we saddled up after breakfast and headed out across the meadow.

Apache was loving all that green grass!

Even when we were able to locate a trail, it was often necessary to bushwhack around fallen logs or other trail obstacles.

We followed a long, steep abandoned forest service road up to the top of a mountain to see if there were any good views.

Not really, since the trees were so thick up there. But it was still possible to see glimpses of pretty vistas off in the distance.

Two of the riders in our group up on top of the mountain.

I had Apache climb up onto the side of a steep hill to have someone take this photo of us.

After we rode back to the campsites, we unsaddled and prepared our dishes for the potluck dinner that night. We ate pretty good the entire weekend.

Two of the guys even celebrated their birthdays that weekend, so we all got to enjoy a birthday cake!

The two birthday boys!

What a great weekend! Life is good!
