Dog School

John has been taking our 5 month old German Shepherd puppy, Zuni to Dog Obedience Classes for about a month now. They are progressing quite quickly and it's amazing to see how the classes have affected Zuni's personality and behavior. She is much more in control now and listens and follows through with commands.
She is a joy to take for walks and cuddle and play with. She has curbed the puppy biting and chewing, which before made all of us run for the hills when she came towards us for attention. Now she is just as excited, but is more in control of the chewing, biting, and jumping up. She is becoming the joy of a dog we knew she would be, and we are so glad we decided to break our dog moratorium and time of grief, to finally welcome a new dog into our lives.
Zuni took a brief break in her 'homework' to come give me a kiss and cuddle. Isn't she cute? (click on the pic and notice how her one ear is pointed towards me, while the other is still focused on John)
Back to her homework. John is having such a good time working with Zuni every day.

She's beautiful. I think obedience training makes dogs much more enjoyable too.

She is a very beautiful dog!
Reminds me of our 'Abby' who is a German Shepherd mix.
We never took her to classes and unfortunately she doesn't always listen. When I am on walks with her in the 'little forest' and if she sees something, she is 'gone'; luckily it is on our own property and she always comes home eventually.
Your land looks very nice. So different to where we live!

Looks like it's a 'post about your dog day'--I did too.
I wanted a GSD so bad, ended up with a mix. Great dogs and love to please. Zuni is beautiful!

I posted a comment but think it got lost so here goes again....Good for John! I have trained in obedience my whole life and teach dog obedience and clicker training. The key is to practice, practice, practice. German shepherds are so smart and love a job. John and Zuni should try some agility too! She is a beautiful pup.

Aw, GSD pups are just the cutest! Ava just turned 2 years old this week, and your picture reminds me of her at that age where they're still growing into their ears :) Madeline is going to train her for 4-H this year, but it's going to be a battle. Ava has a mind of her own!
