I think they fare better here than in most parts of the world, at least mine are pretty spoiled ;)
I was watching BBC news last night and they showed people marching away from the fighting in DR Congo, carrying all their possessions with them, and what I noticed most of all was they had lots of goats, flocks of goats tied together, some people carrying goats on their shoulders. Not pets, but a vital part of their lives, especially to people who suddenly had nothing.
I hope that is fares well. I could ask my two pups that question, and they would not even raise their heads from the pillow or out from under the covers....spoiled....I think we rate quiet fare around here!! I am sure it is much the same at your house too.
Great to see your precious animals this morning. The eye photo is amazing! Well, guess what? I have given you an award! (or two or three!--you'll understand when you see it!) and hope you will come by my blog and retrieve it! Have a great day! Marie
well, i think that how some people abuse animals is JUST WRONG! remember that news report on the cows? the meat re-call? and the youtube video that went along with it? with the cow being pushed by the backhoe??? that is JUST WRONG! i treasure people such as you and me, mellimaus, and many others that take care of their animals with such great care.
so... from a scale from 1-10, i'd say an 8. because there are so many people out there that take such good care of thier animals, but yet a pretty large fraction don't. and it's just sad. i feel so sorry for them. especially the horses, but really all those beautiful animals out there.
oh, by the way, those pictures are sooooooooo cute! i just wanna get inside and give them a biiiiigggg SMOOOOOOOCH!
Our nation is in wonderful shape, judging the way your animals are treated. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had no need for animal rescues? The day will come...
Sometimes I think it fares well, sometimes I think otherwise. The messages we get are often ill advised, partially true, sensationalized for sale. The things that appear logical to the ignorant are often not. In the US, pet care is a major industry. Well meaning pet owners spend a lot of money making sure their animals are well. Unfortunately, they often spend more money than time. There are countless rescue organizations for the animals who are no longer welcome. There are many organizations, public and private, that look out for animal welfare. As with anything else here, there is corruption within. There is ignorance. There idiocy. We continue to pass laws against corruption, against ingorance, against idiocy. How effective are they at fixing the problems? We should pass a law making complience with current animal welfare laws mandatory, to make bribery of government officials illegal. The best solution is knowledge and education and diligence. We must achive these before we can teach our children.
Your animals are so loved and so cute! The pain of seeing an abuse animal is so unforgettable and heart retching. It is horrible to think if nations treated their people badly what do they do to their animals.
I think that most animals fare pretty well, when you consider that a person will serve more jail time for animal abuse than child abuse...or maybe that is just saying that it is alright to abuse a child...not sure.
Anywho, my kidlets and animals are all spoiled rotten, and I just want to reach out and kiss your little goatley's on their cute, goatley mouth's...lol!!!

With more people like you our animals would be better treated.
Your goats are just the cutest things. And the eyes on the llama just beautiful.
